Chanel WOC vs. Bottega Veneta Mini Messenger

Ok I'm sorry to seem so heretical but I have been an avid WOC collector for a while - since all the way back when the half moon was $9-something.

BUT I feel it would be so wrong of me not to disclose my most recent fetish - the BV Mini Messenger. It's a different "look" but same utility - for those days or nights when you want a different look or feel or want to be a bit more under the radar.

IMO:

Chanel WOC Pros
- Woven chain gives added "umph" substantial-ness-ness
- Silver or gold chains and hardware stands out / more formal-seeming
- Easy metallic clasp closure for many of the models
- More credit card slots
- Has other slots, but they will bulk up depending on model

BV Mini Messenger Pros
- Lighter chain due to smaller links and lack of weave-through chain
- Removable strap allows for clutch-carry without added weight of chain
- THREE different main compartments allow for credit cards, phone and zippered bottom compartment is a separate compartment for on-the-go essentials (eye drops, lip gloss, keys, mini phone battery, USB iphone charger, gum all fit, and still more space)
- super lightweight
- will get softer and develop patina with use
- credit card slots are inside the zipper compartment slot, so the flap button doesn't necessarily need to be closed buttoned shut

Does anyone else have both the Chanel WOC and the BV Mini Messenger, and what are your observations and experiences? Please share!!

I think that one of the pics on the BV site show you. Or you can see it either on NM or Barneys site...

The bottom zipper pocket is not the same as the top flap pocket main compartment which is also not the same as the side zipper pocket for the money and cards. this is what I love about it.

I would recommend a darker color though for your first one. And I LOVE how with BV it gets softer over time

Love the colour of the BV but the WOC just has a much nicer exterior shape imo. But it does seem like the BV price is a lot friendlier which is a huge benefit. Would like to see one live.

I tried this BV messenger in store in red earlier this year and I liked it! But it's not that spacious... I remember it having a compartment where you open from the bottom of the bag so that was a little weird and things might fall out if you don't hold it upside down to open it (??)

I liked how lightweight and understated it was but my friend said it would go on sale since he follows sales religiously so I decided to wait. And it was actually on sale at saks in June but only the brown color

Yes the seasonal colors did go on sale... I think Barneys and Bergdorf and Saks all sold the red at sale price.

I do love how the bottom zip compartment goes to a separate section than the main compartment inside. It's like a hidden compartment so I never mix everything together.

I LOVE BV. I'd consider it for sure. I don't love the half moon WoC so is personally choose the BV.

The BV carries more than my half moon WOCs, believe it or not. The upside down zipper I put my lip gloss, eyedrops, retractable USB/lightning cable, extra iphone 5300mah battery, bulky keys, bluetooth headset, loccitane mini lotion tube. ALL FITS. unbelievable.

Then the front zipper pocket with 3 cc slots holds my bills (go flat in, don't need to fold), CCs, coins, ID. Then the back "tall" slit pocket just for my phone.

That way, even when I am opening it upside down, nothing falls out, because of the fold.

It's quite brilliant. And quite 007. I love how I know where everything is.
