Hi everyone!

I am a Chanel vintage lover and fell in love with the mademoiselle jumbo XL CC in black with GHW. I just cant decide between lambskin and caviar. I love lambskin because the look and feel but afraid if I use it all the time being a bigger bag it will ruin the structure and get beat up quickly. I take really good care of my bags but would love to hear your thoughts if anyone owns either of these bags. I found one of each- the caviar is in better condition and actually is $600 less. Thank oyu in advance!

Such a classic dilemma!! I absolutely love the feel and look of lambskin but I tend to buy lambskin pieces in smaller sizes (medium and down to the mini). When I bought my jumbo this morning, I made the decision to get it in caviar because I knew that I would be using it much more regularly. I appreciate the fact that it’s more sturdy and resistant to wear and tear (not that you shouldn’t be careful with where you put it, etc.).

Having said this, lambskin isn’t as fragile as others have already pointed out on this forum. You can always rub the superficial scratches out. A lambskin bag can also hold up beautifully with care.

But to be honest, since the jumbo just has so much more surface area than a small or a medium, caviar was a more reassuring choice for me.

I chose caviar only because I was terrified of ruining a lamb skin bag! Some say they’re not as fragile as their rep, but I didn’t want to take a chance, given it was $$$. Maybe for my next Chanel I’ll venture into lambskin :graucho: But for now, I’m really happy I chose caviar, simply for better peace of mind!

Hi Lollipops2, which one did you end up getting, caviar or lambskin?

Vintage Lambskin is quite durable. Look at all the Lambskin bags from the 90's that look amazing. Go with what you love but there is nothing like vintage Lambskin.
