I scored a beautiful python clutch on sale at NM. If you own python bag, do you know if I need to do anything to preserve the leather?:tup:

I have a python flap bag. I actually sent mine into Chanel this year for a "formal" conditioning. But I've read the DYO reptile conditioner is the way to go.

My python came back even more beautiful after the conditioning. I've got to snap some pics. The color just really seemed even more rich.

Congrats on the clutch! Can't wait to see pics!!!

Thanks for your advices. I took me a while to get the pictures posted. I'm sorry about the picture quality. :yahoo:I did not see this clutch in the Reference Library thread so I'm not sure about its name.

I own 4 python Chanels and I use the DYO reptile conditioner. When the scales start to lift even slightly, that's when you know it's definitely time to condition them. Conditioning once a season is good.

My local shoe cobbler had some in his store.

And even though Phoebe said not to get the bag wet, that is not what I heard from the Nancy Gonzalez specialist. She said python is one bag you can definitely get wet. So don't worry about it if you are caught in the rain.

i'm here Amanda!! i am in transit to tokyo and just saw this thread. i nearly fainted at the price and have sent my SA an email about this clutch but i'm OT!! i don't really do anything to my pythons...just try to baby them when i carry them and then pray real hard no one bumps into it or spills anything on it when i'm out and about, hehe.

miss you ladies and all the sales happening in the US. can't wait to get back home in a week!!

I was in Selfridges department store yesterday and I overheard an SA talking to a colleague about python bags (it was some Chloe bag) and he was saying that when the scales start to curl the opposite way, you should put the bag in the fridge and it straightens them out! He swore by it and was giving this advice to a customer over the telephone.
