Hello all,

With the pending price increase, I’ve really been thinking about selling my black lambskin mini GHW and getting the Medium classic flap in the same color combo but in caviar if I can find it. My question is, do you think this is a bad idea? I do wear my mini a lot but I find it looks more casual when worn at night verses the Medium flap and I would really like a bag that transitions well from day to night. I know I really can’t wear the medium crossbody for those more casual days so I’m a little worried about that. Please let me know your thoughts and also, do what do you think looks better/ dressier at night, lambskin or caviar?

Thanks so much!

Oh my! Another price increase?!

Personally, I prefer caviar simply b/c I'm always terrified of water spots on the lambskin. However, the lambskin is very luxurious! Tbh, you can't really go wrong with either, it just comes down to lifestyle. Lambskin is more delicate and you have the baby the bag more than the caviar.

Do you tend to wear your bag more as a crossbody or shoulder strap? IMO, I find the medium a very dressy size vs. the mini I find more casual, as you can wear as a crossbody.

Hi, thanks for writing. Honestly, I wear my mini both ways but more crossbody when I wear it during the day and if I’m dressed more casually. If I take it out at night I’ll wear it on the shoulder for a more sophisticated look. I know what you mean about lambskin looking a little more luxurious but you’ll be surprised. It’s not as delicate as some people think. I actually find it very durable. And normally you’re able to just rub out any little spot, but I definitely have never worn it in the rain. I got caught in the rain once and I just dried it off quickly as soon as I got in the car and it was fine, thank goodness. I have a caviar Maxi classic in Black with SHW, and I love that bag ❤ And I find it just as luxurious as lambskin. I do like the maxi in caviar more so than lambskin though since it’s so large. Ahhhh...decisions decisions. Thanks so much for your help.

IMO, lambskin mini looks better, edgier and more modern at night, but I’m relatively casual.i d have Chanel reissue in 227 in metallic and a chocolate bar size that I tend not to use as much. If you need more room, then go for a bigger bag. Caviar versus lambskin or calf is personal preference.

I personally prefer the lamb mini (a little biased here as I have one haha) as I think it looks great both crossbody and on the shoulder, casual or dressier. I think the chain strap can be too long on the shoulder if you're aiming for a dressy look, so I often shorten it by tying it up and tuck it inside the bag. As you mentioned, the medium CF is difficult to wear crossbody, are you sure you want to have that option taken away? If you do sell the mini, you may end up wearing the medium CF a lot less if you're used to crossbody during the day...

Also, I agree that the lamb feels very luxurious and it's actually more durable than many people think. I am seeing a lot of caviar "peeling" or discolouring issues recently on this forum...

Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback. And I can honestly say your message has really made me think twice. You’re so right about shortening the strap when appropriate. I’ve done that in the past and it really does give the bag a different feel. Thanks again for giving me food for thought. I wouldn’t want to regret selling it. Anyway, thanks again!

You’re right, sometimes I do get a little frustrated with the size of the mini but I’ve been told that the medium is not that much bigger. I actually was going to try to stop by the store this weekend so I can compare the size of both interiors. Thanks for your feedback ☺️

I would kill to get my hands on a mini black lambskin with gold hardware (regular gold, not champagne gold)... Been searching for months... And, i have a black caviar medium with gold hardware... as well as a black lambskin silver mini... I say keep it... nothing like a hands free, cross body black gold mini combo... i am 5' 7" and cannot wear the medium cross body. hence, the search for a black gold mini... i hear maybe march 2021 chanel will release my dream bag... dreaming until then...

I hear people saying all the time that the M/L doesn't fit much more than the mini. In my experience that's not true at all. I can fit loads more into my medium. I've been using the mini more purely because COVID means in mostly only doing the school run but when things pick up again, I'll be sending my medium to the leather surgeons to get the chain lengthened (I'm 5ft10) so I can wear it crossbody

I think lambskin looks dressier than caviar, and I say this as someone who also likes the look of caviar leather. I think you should keep your mini, it is very difficult to get.

On the other hand, I agree with the above ^ that the M/L does fit more than the mini. It depends on what you carry, but even the little bit of extra room on M/L can make a difference. It is the Small flap that fits around the same as mini.

Do you need to sell the mini in order to fund for the medium? The crossbody effect of the mini is not something you can replicate with the medium. Not without altering the chain at least. So it does sound like there is a use for both bags.

I would also suggest to try out the medium first. Some people won't mind the weight of it while others think it's too heavy. I detest feeling a chain on my shoulders so a classic flap wouldn't work on ny nights out while I can easilly wear it in the daytime. Then it can be combined with a coat.

I think that lamb looks more luxe at night and I also feel that the small is more suitable for nights. I associate nights with small bags and the size of the medium speaks more daybag to me. I suggest to keep small and add medium or let the idea of the medium go. It sounds like you are still happy with it, its gorgous for nights, and if you like to wear a bag crossbody it can be cumbersome to get used to a shoulderbag.

Hello there! Thanks for letting me know what you think and you’re absolutely right. What am I thinking?! This bag is so stinking cute I can’t believe it even crossed my mind. And it’s funny, I saw your reply come thru a few days ago and I’ve been thinking about what you said and I’ve had like 4 people after that tell me not to sell it as well. They all said I would regret it. I think you all are right! Thanks so much for helping me make my decision.☺️ Oh and good luck getting your bag in March ❤ I hope you get it!

Oooo...I didn’t know you can do that, lengthening the chain?! That’s a great idea! That’s what I thought about the size too but I have friends that say they can’t fit much more. That’s kind of hard for me to believe since it is bigger. Thanks for letting me know :)

Thank you so much. Everyone I’ve consulted with has said the same thing- So I’ve decided against selling it. I was a little tired of it and thought too it would be good to switch one for the other especially to wear at night, but I think I’ll just have to get the medium in the future. I just hate the fact that it is now much more than what I paid for my Maxi a few years ago

Hey there Thank you so much for your feedback. Yes, after reading all of your comments and consulting even with my Chanel SA, you guys have all convinced me. So I’m keeping it :) I think I will eventually get the medium probably in caviar since my mini is lamb. But i can see why it would make sense to keep it and just get a medium if needed. I’m a big bag girl normally (I have a Maxi and a Chanel large shopping tote with flap) so it was hard getting used to the small bags so I think my mini will always be the smallest bag in my collection. I’m about to sell my WOC bc the “tinyness” of it has really gotten to me. I love bigger bags ❤️ But understand it’s always nice to have a few smaller ones. Thanks again
