Could someone explain to me how many levels of status Chanel has? How much do we need to spend to get to each level? I heard only Elite customers can reserve bags now. Is it true? What are the perks of each level? Does the status reset every year and does it start first day of the year? Do we have to buy a variety of goods to level up?

I have received catalogues for each season starting in 21K. Is that a new thing Chanel is doing or it's just something they've been doing for a while, sending catalogues out to customers who have an account with them? I love these books so much, they're great for my coffee table. Thank you!

For luxury houses in general, I feel that it's a combination of "it depends" + your relationship with your SA/CA.

Not that I am of any status at Chanel, I don't care about it enough to buy consistently. :P

A former LV employee said to get to their VIP status, it's a minimum of $10,000 USD in 1 calendar year.
This does appear to be true for some other brands, but again, I don't know about Chanel.

However, I feel that the relationship with the SA does matter. It doesn't mean suck up to your SA or buy tons of things necessarily, but a good rapport is nice.
For example, I have a lovely Burberry SA and was able to get a VIP gift set of mooncakes and plates + forks set because he especially requested it for me. By the way, I didn't ask him for the gift set. All he told me was I was going to get mooncakes and I said: cool, thank you! Little did I know that it would be one of the VIP gifts. And I am thankful that he had me in mind to out of his way to make that request.

For magazines, I feel it depends on the brand. There are some brands, once you start buying from them, if they have your contact info, they just automatically just start mailing them to you. That's my experience with Hermes, Dior and Saint Laurent. Heck, I'll just go visit the store sometimes and they'll just hand it to me or pop it in my purchase bag like it's no big deal.
Coffee table books, on the other hand, are more substantial and seem to suggest more of a "VIP" level. But I've never gotten a coffee table book, so I can't say, but I have read it on threads, like with Cartier, people getting that after a nice purchase.

In general though, the more you buy, the more perks you get. In all honesty, the perks are very nice and enjoyable but, at least to me, they're not really worth it to get to a VIP level.
This is not me being bougiee or stuck up, etc. because if you think about, the monetary value of the gifts given are very very little compared to how much you spend. They're just a nice token of appreciation for a loyal client, IMO, and nothing else. Buy what you really love and enjoy what you buy.

Having said all of this. I am guessing that I am at a somewhat "VIP" level for a luxury house, but it's not something I will ask. But I can describe my "perks" so to speak.
- Invited to all the in-store events: DJ events, events with food (yes I will come for free food ), etc.
- Offered champagne and snacks every time I go to the store. I've even gotten small cakes with my initials on them.
- Invited to see collections early before release, try on model/sample sizes and am able to place orders
- Invited to small scale runway shows (now if I got invited to Fashion Week, wow, that would be the jackpot haha)
- Invited to the private sale
- Received all the holiday gifts
- Received a gift from the store/my SA (not sure, if it's really the brand, the manager and my SA presented it to me together)...I later looked up the price, it was ~$1200 USD

Just my thoughts/experience, hope that helps

Hmmm… I am uncertain about status level at Chanel but I am 100% agree with having a great relationship with your SA will help. I am by no mean a VIP at Chanel since I just recently started buying from this brand and only have a few bags. However, I only work with one SA and she is amazing. I have not heard of only Elite status can reserve bag because whenever I asked my SA to reserve a bag for me, I got it, even the mini caramel which is highly sought after. So I think if you have a good relationship with your SA and he/she keeps you in their mind, it definitely helps to get the item you want.

I’m not elite. But my SA likes me (I mainly buy RTW ; a few pieces a season)

I do get the hardcover catalogs and a bottle of rose sparkling for my birthday. (SA said that was corporate; she doesn’t have anyrhing to do with what is sent) I agree with @lill_canele that due to the sheer cost of the items purchased, the client actually pays dearly for small gestures like this.

i just got back into chanel bags after a many year hiatus (buying Hermes)

my SA just reserved a bag for the upcoming season for me. She didn’t take a deposit and there is no obligation, but she said yes, my name is on it. Im in the US; perhaps geography makes a difference too

I believe one of the Saks SA posted before, it’s USD25,000 to get into Elite Status, USD50,000 to be in VIC.
There’s also VVIC but I forget the threshold for that.
I got the book as well but I know it was sent from my SA as she specifically asked me if anyone would be home to receive the book while I was on vacation. So I think your relationship with your SA would be important to receive gifts and etc as well. When I tried to order a bag from 22B, my SA did tell me that I’ll be able to put for request since I’m in Elite+ status so I guess some boutiques are starting to put in place these rules. I don’t think they reset every first of the year, not sure if they’ll reset it. I was Elite+ last year and still an Elite+ currently.

Someone here wrote about the level formerly called camellia status which I think was 250K USD annually and up. I didn’t realize 25-50K was a classification.

during sale, the regular dressings rooms were booked so we went to the VIP floor, and the couches inside the dressing rooms were not as nice.

Saks and department stores I think have different perks. For example, DH and I were invited to a dior RTW fashion show in paris earlier this year, and dior offered to pay hotel (and there would have been dinners with my boutique SA and other things), but not airfare. (We could not go bc we had other travel plans) But, I was told that SAKs VVIPs got airfare comped too.

I also have no idea of what my status is. I’m in AU and don’t even have a boutique in my state. Since the pandemic hits, I haven’t been able to travel and had just been buying remotely. My SA is amazing and had always, always managed to get me everything I ask for as long as it’s available in our region. I do get gifts but she was upfront on letting me know that they came from corporate, not her. The gifts are always nice to have but certainly not something to strive for, imo. I also don’t keep the catalogues as they eventually clutter and I don’t have enough space.

I’m in Asia and I heard that if you’re a RTW customer, you’d automatically be in Elite tier. I have also read somewhere here (on another thread discussing this topic) that there are Elite, Elite+, Potential VIC, VIC, and VVIC. Not sure how much spending is needed for each tier though.
