Hi guys!

OK, so, generally speaking, what do you guys think of non-Chanel quilted bags that are very similar to Chanel flaps?

I saw a small, quilted CHHC bag in their boutique last night (photo attached- it's the black/dark navy one on the left) and it was in a nice pearly bronze color.. The price was OK too.. but is the bag too "I wish I were a Chanel flap" ?? I'd love to know what you all think!

Also, I haven't found any thread dedicated to Carolina Herrera bags on the forum. Is the brand unpopular worldwide? Because it's starting to become popular in the Arab gulf area!

Thanks :D

I didn't realize Carolina Herrera had her own accessories… she has a boutique in Houston. I love my Chanel bags, but also love any well made handbag - I just have gotten to the point where I look more than I buy (seriously, I am down to just buying a bag MAYBE every 3 o 4 years) …

In general, I am ok when a designer does their new take on a classic bag.

Quilted style bags are classics and there's nothing wrong with purchasing one that is not Chanel. Other designers like Dior and Marc Jacobs have their own quilted style bags. To be honest, given Chanel's price increases and the fact that I enjoy well made bags that are 'different', I would prefer a cheaper bag that had a different take on the quilted style.

I haven't heard of Carolina Herrera. I live in Australia, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I like the Carolina Herrera bags, but am not sure if I like the look of the logo.

I have one pre-loved Chanel in my collection. That will probably be it for me. I do love that other designers have quality quilted bags at a lesser cost. Henri Bendel has a beautiful selection of quilted handbags for around $450.

I think a lot of designers do quilting well. In this case however its too "if I only were a CC classic flap"... I think The shape otherwise and placement of the logo make it so... others do quilting without trying to be chanel... Like lady dior...

I used to analyse for bags that i like but has that look people associate with chanel - quilt, chain, logo placement, closue etc but honestly now i don't care. If u like the bag and will use it Yes buy it . It's not a counterfeit so nothing wrong carrying a chain bag that's not chanel. But if u want a chanel ultimately u might still want it even if u buy this bag :p (speaking from experience lol) base on the pic i actually like the black quilted bag much more

To me it does not matter. You can do your own take on the quilted, but if you blatantly copy a chanel original then its a problem (and distasteful). Otherwise its good with me.

The Carolina Herrera blue bag is really pretty in that pic :)

When you take a quick glance at them they could look like 'fake' Chanel bags. Like how people sometimes have 'Chantel' Chanel-look-alike bags or w/e. Doesn't make them counterfeits but still..

I don't believe Chanel was the first to come out with quilted flap bags, however she did make it popular and now- iconic.
Many premier designers have quilted flap bags too.
For me there are look-alikes but ultimately Chanel does it best.

With Chanel, the quality has not gone up alongside of the prices (just go to the Chanel board and you can see what I'm talking about)

so if you like the quilted style and another designer is doing it for a fair price and good quality, why not?

If find that knowledge of Chanel bag styles can bias one's opinion of non-Chanel quilted bags. Same with Hermes Birkin bags vs. Birkin-like bags. If you don't really care what other people think of the bag you're buying, I say go for it.
