Chanel in Hawaii

Hi everyone! We have a vacation planned in Hawaii this summer on the occasion of my 40th birthday and was thinking it would be sweet to pick up something from Chanel as a birthday self-gift. I have a medium classic flap in GHW caviar and am absolutely in Chanel purse peace, especially with the prices these days! However, I am toying with the idea of perhaps picking up sunglasses or SLG as my present (only other Chanel item I have is the classic long wallet). Any insights on what would be a good purchase?

I’m from Canada and have read Chanel prices are highest in the US (as well as Thailand). I suppose I can settle the thought that I’d be scoring a good idea?

Perhaps a woc? The boutique on the touristy Main Street has a good selection of woc. Otherwise, you may want to visit the Ala Moana location, they have 2 stores there, one for bags/wallets and the other one specifically for shoes. Great selection as well, it’s more lively here.

There was good inventory when I went in October 2022. Ala Moana had a better selection of bags than Waikiki, but it may be different for your trip. The stores also get new inventory pretty regularly.

I’m not sure how pricing/taxes work as you’re a Canadian (do you get a VAT refund somewhere?), but as a Californian, I’d rather buy my items in Hawaii to save on sales tax. Chanel doesn’t give any discounted pricing, but LV, YSL, and Dior are usually 10-15% less in Hawaii than the mainland. Hawaii is very, very strict with charging for bags, so expect a small “bag fee” (usually 5-25 cents) for the Chanel bag to carry your purse out of the store.

I am not too familiar with SLGs but hopefully you find something nice in Hawaii!
