My beautiful GST arrived today!!! It was listed as 'like new' condition, and overall it is beautiful and everything I hoped for. I saw a PST in a shop window 6-7 years ago and have been drawn to this style since. There's only minimal slouching to the bag, which I'm really pleased about since a lot of the preloved options looked like they lost a lot of their shape. The only downside... it had wear to the corners. I was expecting small rubs, but the wear is more substantial than what I was expecting based on the sellers pictures. That being said, I feel like I got a pretty good price on the bag ($1,700 including shipping and tax). I'm thinking this is probably the best condition I'll be able to find at my price point - thoughts?

IMO, Keep

I think it’s great for the price you got. I think that the corners could be easily refurbished. I was always convinced that they discontinued the GST bc it was priced very well at the time. Its a classic for a reason

the one thing is, the GST can be heavy. And the shoulder straps have a tendency to slip off some shoulders

otherwise congrats on your deal!

I can’t comment on the price, not familiar with resale prices of this bag but I’ve had my GST for probably ten years and use it as a knock around bag and it does not have any of the slouching and structural wear this bag has. That bag should not be listed as “like new”. I also just looked at my corners and they are perfect, so that bag is in good condition at best, NOT “like new”.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Is there a go-to place that folks typically use to do a corner touch? That might be the way I go.

I'm hopeful that I won't mind the weight/strap slippage since I love the style so much Fingers crossed!

See above @SpicyTuna13 ’s post for a recommendation

I would also check if there is a GST/PST thread in the clubhouse. if there is one, perhaps do a search there on resale prices.
1,700 seems like a great price to me, IDK

good Luck with however you decide

The bag is not in the condition that you expected & there is wear to the corners in spite of
it being a style you love. The condition is not "like new"
I'd reach out to Leather Surgeons (as suggested above) or Docride to see what the cost would
be to repair.
Based on that info, I'd reach out to your seller & ask if she would absorb/share the cost of the
repair . You have nothing to lose by asking & perhaps the seller will recognize that the condition
was not described accurately & it was an oversight on her part, JMO

Totally agree - it has certainly been used and should have been listed as such

Thanks! I'm new here - does that mean we aren't allowed to say what we paid for a bag on this forum? Or was that in reference to Leather Surgeons?
It means I have no financial interests in my recommendation of them (i.e. no conflicts of interest).

Sorry, I deal with attorneys/legal all the time, sometimes it’s hard to turn the switch off.

The structure is quite slouchy like it had been heavily used.
I‘m not sure if the full spa service can help restoring it.
You might have to make sure with the leather surgeon that the restoration can also solve the structure problem.

Congrats on your GST! It’s a great handbag and a workhorse. As far as pricing, if you look on Fashionphile, you will see some in terrible condition for $1,000 or more than what you paid. I would send it to Leather Surgeons for a refresh. Below is a link to their work. Be prepared to be wowed! Congrats again on your GST. It’s a beautiful handbag.

if you are happy with the bag except for the corners, just retouch the corners

if you are unhappy with the structure, I would say return and start a new search
for what you paid, I think the bag is great, but I’m not knowledgeable about the prices for preloved GSTs.
Though I am inclined to agree with @Strep2031, that it seems like a bargain to me, IDK.

you should of course ask LS what a full spa would entail and how much

i like the bag and think it looks nice — the slouch doesn’t bother me — but at the end of the day, you have to love it
