Hi Everyone,

Need some help understanding what the policy is in Japan for coat bags. We've got a tweed jacket yesterday from the Ginza store and they put the coat in this thin material what looks like a temporary bag rather than the usual black coat bag (picture attached). When we asked the sales associate, she said they use this for any first time customers in Japan, and if I buy clothes in the future they will use the black jacket bags. Is this a new policy?

We've bought coats in both the US and Canada this season and they all came in the normal black bag, and the same in the Rue Cambon store earlier in the year, so really confused about what they said.

TIA for any help!

I seriously it doesn't evolve into 'BYOB' policy! That would be more than terrible. Haha! I have not been given a dust bag (no stock) for my 22 which I got end Nov. Looks like I need to remind my SA on this.

Is Chanel trying to reduce using plastic garment bags and switched over to more environmental friendly garment bags??
This would be the only answer I would accept. Though I doubt many customers THROW away the black garment bag. You can buy them on eBay for less than $40 dollars. Though as sweetierene said above, after spending thousands on a jacket, you get a serviette style garment bag?

When I’ve had a vintage jacket tailored, they’ve gave me a black garment bag when it was ready for pick up. When I tailored a jacket purchased from Paris (kept the Rue Cambon garment bag at home), they also prepared it with a new black garment bag upon pick up (based in USA).

"Environmental friendly" is sadly just a scheme! These greedy corporate CEOs don't care about the environment. All they care about is profits and sales. This just goes to show how well they treat us as value customers. OP is not a first time buyer and I am sure that jacket is not cheap. Yet they gave her a cheap garment bag because it was her first time in that store. That's B.S. Chanel is not Hermes. You don't have to play the game, you don't have to buy from only one SA to build a profile to get a bag. We should be treated equally in every store. Isn't that how luxury is supposed to be? Since when we have to be loyal to only 1 store, 1 SA? Of course we get special treatments if we keep buying from 1 SA but at least the standards should be the same across all boutiques. Think about buying a classic flap worth of 10K, they give us a thin felt dust bag because this is our first time buying from a store we have never gone to, we would be so pissed, right?

Chanel CEOs, you should visit TPF, read these threads, to see what your loyal customers think of your brand!

Also, if we spend 5-10K on a piece of fabric, we shouldn't have to go on eBay to buy a garment bag for $40. That doesn't sound right!
