hi everyone

I own a 3 pairs of Chanel flats - one brand new from the boutique, 2 preloved.

I noticed one pair, preloved quilted calfskin (classic) has the tied BOW at the front stitched together with black thread - so that it can’t become undone/loose.

I’ve never seen this before (nor do my other pairs have this, here I untie and retie the bow as I want).

Has anyone ever seen this?

I’m not questioning authenticity, maybe someone had it added so it wouldn’t become undone…

Just curious.

Thanks!

I have 16 pairs and am not aware the bow could be untied. It would be incredibly annoying to me if the bows came undone, which they never have.
they can be though! You can pull it tighter as well to tighten the top bit on the shoe. It’s an actual pull-string it’s not just a cosmetic bow.

I wonder, if you have so many pairs - do any of them have Thread holding down the knot of the bow? U can see it if u look closely. I’ll attach a pic.

I have an old vintage pair where the leather of the bow tie needed a repair and I untied the bow to get it right.

Interesting, never knew this. I will have to look but I’m not untying any bows, I have mild OCD and I’m sure my tie will never be just perfect!
Hahaha nooo don’t untie them! It is a special technique. Mine came undone so I had to watch videos of people doing the perfect bow to get it right
U would be able to see the support stitch that I am talking about it looks like this:I have marked the end of the stitch yellow it’s two stitches going DOWN from the knot holding it in place and in this case making it unable for you to UNTIE it. Again, I have two other cc ballet pairs that do not have this, so I wonder if it depends on the year of production or if I need to worry about the new secondhand pair being real. I am 100% certain they are though

I don’t see obvious threads like this on any of mine.

Hi there,
I think it depends on the age of the Ballerina or the model. My older ones from back in the days have unstitched/ loose bows. Which for me is annoying because once they are open, I can’t tie them anymore. They didn‘t have serial numbers back then either. The ones from the last years and today all have tight stitched bows (and serial numbers in the side of the shoes). Some models are quilted, some are not. Cheers
