I had a good Collection of Chanel costume jewelry. I sold most of them and for some pieces, I sold for more than what I bought it for (I just had too many and wanted to downsize, trying to get into minimalism lol).
They do make me really happy! Like others have said, you can’t really compare them to fine jewelry. They are in their own category. If there’s something that really catches your eye, you should get it. You’ll probably be kicking yourself later if you don’t. And if you do get it and don’t like it anymore, you’ll make most of your money back. Very good resale value.
Hi! How long did you keep your brooches before You sold them? Wondering how long I need to keep them for in order to make my money back in case I don’t want hem anymore. Thank you!

I have purchased quite a few Chanel costume jewelry throughout the year and as I'm cleaning out my closet I have taken a few pieces to The Real Real to get evaluated. At my evaluation appointment, most pieces inspected were fine but a few were met with questions because the logo is off or inconsistent. One earring, in particular, has an off-center logo! Luckily I keep all my receipts so I was able to show they're authentic. I buy all my items directly from boutiques so I was quite appalled when this happened. I know Chanel's quality isn't always the greatest but for their logo to be inconsistent says a lot about their QC. Just wanted to share and see if anyone else has similar experiences with their Chanel pieces.

I have a good collection of Chanel costume jewelry… lots of necklaces and rings and a few brooches. I usually mix them with my regular fine jewelry or use the smaller pendants on vacation. I also bought like 6 pieces for my mom and a few for my aunt as gifts. Except for one brooch where a faux pearl fell (actually just a few days after I bought it and gave it to my aunt) and my crystal earrings where the stamped logo came off (and not the crystals) none of us have had any issues. I have forgotten to take out a few pendant necklaces when I have taken a shower or gone swimming or perspired when wearing them but the color is still fine. I have sold one necklace to Fashionphile and got my money back.

I know this is an old thread, but I recently tried cleaning a necklace and wanted to share my results. I just used a small amount of dawn dish soap in water and scrubbed with a soft toothbrush. I wouldn’t use this method on any pieces with stones though. Here's my before and after:
