Chanel Classic Jumbo vs. Hermes Birkin 35

I was watching a YT vlogger talking about price increases and she mentioned that buying a Chanel classic than a Hermes Birkin is much more practical as Chanel tends to do crazy price increases. Actually, I love both bags, I was thinking of getting a Chanel Classic Jumbo Flap and is on my wishlist, but an Hermes Birkin seems to be on my mind more than a Chanel! I know that I should buy whatever makes me happy, but in practicality sake, should I go for the Chanel first?

Please let me know what are your opinions on this!

Hi! I think I just watched the same YT video! Whilst I agree about getting higher value items first (as logically everything goes up in price and the same percentage increase on a larger value item will be greater than on a lesser priced one) I also think that when it comes to certain items you should get what you can get your hands on when you can. So if the Jumbo you want is a ‘classic’ colour combo and will always be available price increase or not, but the Birkin you want is rarer to come by, I’d get that as soon as I could and delay getting the jumbo. However if the jumbo you want is in a seasonal colour grab it while you can! I hope that makes sense [emoji4]

Thanks for your input! Actually, for both items, I am aiming for classic colours. For the Birking, I wanted it in the colour Gold and for the Jumbo, I wanted it in a White or Dirty White.. I used to have Chanels way back and I'm pretty bummed that they are so expensive nowadays..

I vote for Hermes rather than Chanel. Hermès after sales service is so much better than Chanel. If there is anything wrong with your Hermès you can just send it back for spa. Whereas Chanel doesn’t have that service in-house. I think both are classic, but very different. Birkins are hand held and Chanel is more of a shoulder carry. Size is also very different. Perhaps you could get your Birkin in the secondary market and use the left over for Chanel? Size 35 is not that hard to get in the secondary market, I see deals to be had quite often! Just a suggestion.
