Ladies, I am totally guilty of pandemic bag hoarding.
I need advice on whether to buy this reissue or not. Please let me know what you think!

I live in wintry Canada and currently own -
  1. Jumbo CF in Black with silver hardware. As my first ever Chanel boutique purchase, I thought was this would be a classic day bag, but I seldom reach for it as I find it very bulky/heavy.
  2. Old medium black Boy with light gold hardware - also boutique - for going out/dressing up.
  3. Pandemic purchase #1 (hence only used once to go to Costco!) - resale - Medium Mademoiselle bowling bag in beige with gold hardware. I like that it's lightweight, casual/carefree and plan to use in summer if this stupid social distancing is over by then.
  4. Pandemic purchase #2 (not yet used) - CC Crown medium bag in blue with aged gold hardware - plan to use lots due to lightweight and blue colour and looks like a CF but less cumbersome/heavy/formal.

I am loving the idea of owning a hot colour but not sure if I have the 'courage' to use it so often. I have always wanted a chevron reissue. I think I tend to use my bags more in the warmer months and I know I wouldn't buy another black Chanel again. This one speaks to me BUT my concerns are:

(a) Does the dark pink/raspberry colour run the risk of looking dull and getting 'dirty' quickly.

(b) How durable is the Chanel sheepskin? I feel like it may be a bit more durable than the lambskin but not much more? I've read the other threads about sheepskin on TPF already. Will it get dirty over time, just based on the colour, even if I don't use it?

(c) Do you ladies like the bag? Is it going to age with me well? I'm a mid-40s working mother of 3. My style is more classic and feminine than trendy/edgy.

(d) Should I be buying a mini and jumping on the micro/mini bandwagon instead of buying more larger bags? I find I don't use the WOCs I do have and I seldom reach for my Boy for running errands because I like to carry more than just mini wallet etc for day to day.

I've attached pics of the particular bag I'm eyeing! I remember seeing it in the boutique in 2017 and loved it in person under the bright lights for those two minutes but have never actually seen anyone else carry it.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts - especially if you've made it this far!! xo

It's gorgeous!!!!!!!! It sounds like it checks off all the boxes for what you want. I remember this color being very popular in 2017. Sheepskin wears well. I dont think it'll dull out or get dirty quickly either. If the mini style doesn't fit your needs, don't jump on it. Wear the size that fits you.
I think this is very classy and feminine while giving you a pop to any outfit.
Buy it!

Sheepskin is very durable according to those who own it on here.

I think this bag in particular already has some colour transfer/dirt on the bag pocket and some slight wear on the corners. Hopefully that's reflected in the price? I have had a red mini since 2015 and I have darkening in similar areas from colour transfer. I expect it to get worse the more I use it. Is this something you have considered potentially happening? This of course potentially reduces resale value if that is something you would consider.

Reissues tend to be lighter and less cumbersome than Jumbos which may make this a more useful purchase even in equivalent sizes.

A brightly coloured Chanel is always fun. If this works go for it.

Thank you for your input! I agree, some darkening and wear already. My concern is how much use it would take to make that much worse. Asking around $5300 Canadian. Resales on reissues in black calfskin in Canada go for a bit more than that. A year ago this would have sold for 4K but prices are going up like crazy during the pandemic!

I don't doubt the size and weight of the bag. It's more the colour transfer issues and whether pink sheepskin is something that will do well after a visit to a 'bag spa'!

I think I would mentally be prepared for it to get worse. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst type of situation. Any light colour bag can get transfer regardless of the skin. My mini is caviar. Chanel may agree to spa (or they may not as you are not original owner). Other bag spas have varying degrees of success keeping the feel and the colour of bags they rehab. Good luck whatever you decide.

Good eye on the color transfer on the back pocket.
