Hi! I went to a second hand shop and tried thr Chanel CF medium and Jumbo. Which looks better on me? Which should i buy?

I can’t make a decision because the medium size seems can’t fit much. I am also close to 50 and I expect to gain more weight and the medium may become too small for me. The jumbo’s chain may appear a bit too long but I can use a chain shortener for this, therefore I think it won’t be a problem. I can only afford one chanel CF in my lifetime so please help me decide.

I like the medium on you! I also don’t think it looks too small for you. What do you plan to use the bag for/wear it to?

Do you have one size you’re more drawn to? I ask bc, while I generally like bigger bags, I got a smaller Chanel vanity case bag and use it alllllll the time. I was just more drawn to it and find myself constantly reaching for it despite it not being able to hold much. If you really like the look of one size over another, I’d pick that one.

While the size has to be functional for your lifestyle, I would ask you to also consider which hardware you prefer. I ask because I have bags I adore in gold hardware, and though the tone of gold is perfect for my taste, I still find myself wishing they were in silver or gunmetal. If you have a hardware preference, let that factor into your decision.
Also, which leather do you prefer- the caviar or the lambskin? Because that will impact how much you want to use it. You have to like the way the leather feels.
Whatever you choose, it'll be special as your one and only CF. I hope you will make many happy memories carrying it. :smile:

I like the medium on you. Nothing wrong with jumbo, but to me jumbo is more occasional, and you will tend to overstuff.

But if your lifestyle calls for more room, then I understand the need for the jumbo. Think about this a little more as you stated, you only need one.

Sorry to say, not great photos for us to see how each looks on you. That said, the Caviar M/L is in much better shape than the Lambskin Jumbo. Also, if you're going to have just one Chanel Classic Flap I think you'll be happiest with one in Caviar so that you won't need to worry about getting caught in rain/snow. As for size, the M/L is more versatile (goes day to night) while the Jumbo is a day bag. As others have said, you need to think about what you would want to carry and decide on the size based on that. Only you can answer that question.

Some thoughts:

I’m more drawn to the jumbo — especially the 24K gold hardware.

Plus, black and gold is more classic to me — you cannot go wrong with either though.

The double flap on the medium can be annoying to get in and out of on the daily.

Caviar a little more carefree, but lambskin is more durable than folks give it credit for.

Both look good on you — get the one that screams to you the most.

I like the M/L size on you but I am not fan of silver HW. But if you like it then go for it! If this is the only Chanel bag you will be buying then I would suggest staying away from lambskin leather as it is not an all weather bag although the look is very luxurious! And there is just something timeless about Chanel lambskin leather and GHW :heart:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights. As of now, my bags are small to medium sized. Planning to use this Chanel as a weekend bag only.

Both bags look great! Im in the minority but actually really like the jumbo on you. I personally no longer wear a classic flap in medium in black (I much prefer the neutrals or bright/pastel colours) as I feel it looks too formal for my style
I do love the jumbo in black because it looks more casual and I love the gold hardware.
