I have both the Boy and the mini Peekaboo, but I've tried on the Essentially size a few times and had the Essentially been available when I got my mini, I would have gone for the Essentially. I think it's the perfect peekaboo size with more durable leather than the lambskin. I can also fit more in my mini Peekaboo than in my old medium Boy, the Essentially can probably fit a ton.

I love both my Boy and my mini Peekaboo and I wouldn't give up either one. It's just my advice, but given that Chanel has frequent price increases, I would prioritize the Boy first!

That's a great point about the piece increases. I had been looking at the essentially too and appreciate your input on that size !!

I have both and I voted for the boy. I have the Peekaboo X-Lite and I adore it - lightweight, spacious, gorgeous inconspicuous design. I can definitely fit more in it than the boy, but for me, the boy has enough room for day-to-day. However, I did have the Peekaboo Essentially and I ended up returning it. Though all my day-to-day essentials fit in it, the thin leather of the bag made it so the outline of my items would show through if I put more than several items in it. I also hated the middle compartment - anytime I stuck my hand in the bag, I was scratched by the turn lock hardware... and I have tiny hands.
I also prefer carrying bags on my shoulder as opposed to handheld. The peekaboo comes with a strap, but the way it latches on around the short handle makes it sit awkward in my opinion and it feels like I'm ruining the bag.
Lastly, in the event that you want to resell it at any point, you will take a substantial loss on a Fendi bag vs Chanel.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for your input. That is good to know on the essentially regarding the thin leather and hardware scratching your hand, definitely makes me think twice about that style! I am leaning toward the boy .. I just love everything about it and it is true about the value .
