So I just took the plunge and bought a beautiful Chanel 2.55 vintage leather jumbo flap with dull silver hardware. $6k retail. I got it home and it's a tight fit to get all of my stuff in there, which was a little surprising. Before I bought the Chanel, I was considering a Lanvin Happy. I've had their mini pop version and liked it, other than the fact that the chain can be a little blingy for me sometimes. But for less than half the price of the Chanel, it begs the question...would you stick with the Chanel or go with the Lanvin Happy instead? I tend to prefer to fly under the radar just a bit with my bags, and I think the Lanvin is way less conspicuous than the Chanel, even though I'd consider the Chanel that I bought to be less obvious than some of their other leather/hardware combinations.

I think answer depends upon 2 things:

1) why did you choose a chanel bag & will a lanvin meet those needs?
2) if you must carry more than the chanel bag holds, will it fit into your lanvin choice?

Also, if you've spent more than you can afford, suggest choosing lower priced option.

Hope this helps.

I have both, and while Chanel is obviously iconic, the Happy bag is just sooo practical and versatile. It looks good both empty and stuffed. I was surprised how much I love my Happy (I don't like gold hardware, I'm not a fan of brown, and I'm a minimalist when it comes to hardware, so by rights I should dislike the bag!)

I have the Lanvin, and I'm very pleased with it; looks great with anything, and is much easier to maintain than a Chanel. The handle (mine has leather pad in the middle of the chain) is also more comfortable. Not to mention, all this at a fraction of the cost from the ubiquitous CC! It sounds like the Happy may be more practical for you; go with what feels right!
