.....So I purchased a Chanel 19 in Lambskin in light beige color from my local Neiman Marcus. There were only 2 inventory left for the Chanel 19 in general. Same color, size and leather type.

Planning to get another 19. Love how casual it is and good for day to day use. Since there’s no stock available at my local NM. I may call and order it thru Chanel NY branch. Curious to know if anyone can tell me which wrinkles more or wrinkles easily. Goatskin or Lambskin.

Thank you!

I think it comes down to the individual bag. I say this because my SA, who has been with Chanel for many years, told me that she needs to check the tag on the 19 bags in order to determine if they are lamb or goat. She is unable to tell by looking. That would indicate to me that either leather could scratch easily -- or not scratch easily. Who knows? The 19 is a casual, somewhat slouchy bag. It is not meant to be a "fussy" bag. I would imagine both leathers wear well. They are both beautiful. I have a small black 19 in goatskin. It is shiny and beautiful, but if I scratch it with my nail, I will definitely see it. That's what leather does, though, and sometimes it can be rubbed out. :)

So lambskin is soft and feels delicate (but it is durable as there is a coating)
Goatskin is more durable and feels like plastic, but wrinkles a lot more !

I think lambskin or goatskin Chanel 19 is a personal choice.

I have the goatskin bag and based on the videos I’ve seen on YouTube lambskin is more delicate for scratch just like any other classic bag but mine does wrinkle and can get scratch as well. Others have said lambskin doesn’t get wrinkle and has more shine and goatskin is more durable. My ASAP told me goatskin is more durable. I have this bag for a few months now and I still like it. It’s a bag you can use day to day. But I’m selling mine to pay off some stuff. Still finding a good place to sell. There’s a scratch on the right on my bag, not sure how I got it. Now I gotta figure how to remove it if I can. Welcome for suggestions!

I have a 19 in goatskin. I love it because it’s my carefree bag. Not that I throw it around but am definitely less worried about it than my lambskin bags. I love the look and feel of lambskin and prefer it but don’t feel as if the goatskin feels like plastic. It’s definitely not as soft as my lambskin bags but still soft and smooshy.

My SA told me that when you scratch goatskin it does not rub out. My friend has a lambskin and got a scratch and rubbed a bit of leather condition on it and it is gone.

Thank you!

You probably would have purchased another 19 by now but I figure I'll add to this conversation as I own both goatskin and lambskin 19!

Lambskin - very soft to touch. Almost feels like a baby bum  It's got a plush to it that the goatskin lacks. It dents (though minor imo) and I'm noticing it on the inside flap where the chain connects. I've dented mine when I went ahead to store it by putting the chain back inside the bag. I still love it though and it's on the inside, so it's fine.

Goatskin - it's soft but not plush and baby bum like lambskin. I do notice that it wrinkles a bit compare to my lambskin, especially in the back side of the bag near bottom

I have bag organizer in both bags to maintain structure and use air paper as well.

You can tell the difference between lamb and goat skin. My SA showed me once how and the difference is goat skin has much bigger grain compare to lambskin. You'll notice the difference if you have it side by side. Once you've seen it side by side, you'll be able to recognize goatskin on its own!

I picked lambskin because I prefer the smoother look and how soft it feels! It's not as delicate as my classic flap lambskin. Here's what it looks like after 3 months of wear. View attachment 5155044
It looks good! Mine got wrinkly and you can see a little scratch or crease but either way I’m sending it out to fashionphile tomorrow. I wanna get a small caviar classic flap!
