Chanel 19 Small or Vintage Medium CF?

I vote for the 19 (although not necessarily in navy). That bag is a joy to use, looks gorgeous and goes with everything. You will get your money’s worth out of it. So many people buy CFs, but then hardly wear them. Yes, they are beautiful, yes, they are the most classic bags ever, but they are also not practical, quite ostentatious and and too dressy for many situations.
I have a small 19 bag in Navy and love it! It goes well with casual outfits, especially when worn crossbody. You can dress it up by using the chain handle. The Navy on the 19 is gorgeous and easy to style with. It almost looks black in certain lightings, but definitely more fun! Since you mentioned your lifestyle is more casual, I think you will enjoy the 19.
If it's one or the other, I'd choose the CF. The 19 doesn't always quench the Classic thirst. But if you already have a Classic, get a 19 so mix it up. Do you have any other Chanel bags? UO but I do think the classic flap can be casual. I use my small black all the time (I'm in LA). No one really bats an eye...
I got one and it looks really chic. I just got the CF in small yesterday primarily because I couldn’t get a mini and they increase the price today
It’s interesting that you see the classics as “ostentatious”. I find the 19 much more flashy. I have both CF and 19 and love both. I will say that the Jumbo is too big and showy for me, personally. My large flap is a reissue for a reason!
Yes, my large flap is also a reissue, for those exact reasons. And you‘re right about the 19 too - it is more flashy, at least stylewise. But it’s not in the group of those iconic luxury items (or status symbols) that many people would imediately recognize, like a Rolex or a Birkin or a Porsche - or a CF. And it has a much lower price point. So despite the hardware and the CC-closure, personally I feel more under the radar with my 19 than I did with my CF, which I sold. (Still own a classic mini, though.)
I think it’s interesting that, if I didn’t know Chanel, I wouldn’t necessarily assume that the Classics are the priciest. I hadn’t thought of that until now.
The 19 for sure. I have a feeling you’ll wear it a lot more given your casual lifestyle. It’s a great crossbody bag. The classic may check an invisible box for you, but rarely see the light of day.
I have both (except my medium CF is not vintage) and coincidentally, got them around the same time. I think you would definitely get more wear out of the 19 on a daily basis. However, if the medium CF is at a great price for vintage and you are happy with the condition, you should go for it. Prices for pre-loved CFs will only go up and personally, it took me a long time to find one in a condition and at a price I was ok with. Let us know what you chose!
