Personally would go for leather over fabric since it sounds like you're look for a workhorse bag but if you love it go for it!

I'd go for something else. To me personally, that bag, as pretty as it is, looks like a summer/beach bag. A leather or canvas bag with a zipper or a flap would be much more suitable for school.
