Hello dear TPF community! Curious what your thoughts are on this topic. I am looking to add a medium/large everyday bag to my collection. Subtle/no logo strongly preferred. Colorwise - tan, beige, taupe, grey. Silver, gunmetal hardware, but open to gold.
For reference I currently own:
- YSL Niki Medium in black faux croc - love it, but it is a bit heavy. Not exactly low key either.
- Gucci Horsebit 1955 Small bag (don’t ever wear it, too small, not my style, plan to sell)
- Balenciaga Neo Classic in “used black” medium (was my go-to for over a year, fell out of love, plan to sell)
- LV Coussin MM in black - i baby this bag, too delicate to be my workhorse.
- LV Coussin PM in Anthracite - leather on this version is a lot sturdier than on the black MM, currently my daily bag, but it does not hold enough and is definitely far from subtle:)
- LV Maida in Black Empreinte - super practical and comfortable, a bit flashy at times due to LV print on pockets.
- LV Pochette Metis in Empreinte Dune (taupe) - Amazing little crossbody, but a bit small plus the LV logo.
- LV Scala in taupe - basically a pouch/clutch.
- LV Capucines BB in black pleated leather - my “fanciest” definitely not an everyday bag for me. Although it is relatively subtle.
- Proenza Schouler PS1 Medium in Black. Good bag, but I rarely reach for it (can’t explain why). Don’t plan to sell it.

As you can see, most my bags are black.
I tend to carry a lot on a daily basis: phone, headphones, charger, planner, sometimes a laptop, smallish toiletry bag, hand cream, sanitizer, sunglasses, wet wipes, snacks and extra underwear and a diaper or two for my three kids…

LOVE the look of the Celine Belt Bag Mini in Taupe or Grey, but I hear it is heavy. Does it have a staying power? Is it a classic by now. Will it look dated due to trapezoid shape?

Like Celine le 16 in medium, but don’t see a color i like on their website. Maybe the tan? I wonder how this bag is in terms of weight? I see it as an instant classic. Perhaps too formal for a daily bag?

Like the Loewe Puzzle in medium. Tan smooth leather is a good option, but I am more attracted to beige. Beige only comes in grained leather option - not sure I am a fan.

I was also considering the small Givenchy Antigona, but it doesn’t have a single practical pocket; YSL College, but don’t want another chain bag. Looked at Bottega Veneta, but other than the Pouch haven’t fallen in love with any line. I plan to get a new bag once I sell the Gucci and the Balenciaga:)
Thank you so much in advance for all your advice<3

Very much saying this in a neutral (not rude) manner, but are you sure you want to step outside LV? Based on your lists, it seems to be the only brand of bags you're actually enjoying in your closet.

What function is this bad supposed to fill? That wasn't clear from your post, and should probably be the driving decision. Maybe you should also reflect on why you don't carry your Balenciaga & PS bags anymore despite their practicality/functionality. That might also point in the right direction.

You've also listed reasons why you don't like the two options you're considering...sounds like you should wait to find something you really love.

Hi,
Yes, I am sure as currently I am looking for a less obvious luxury bag. LV is hardly subtle.
Looking for an everyday bag to fit the items listed in the original post.
I fell out of love with the Balenciaga bag. The PS1 can’t be worn as a crossbody, that’s a negative.
I like the options i am considering, there are pros and cons, that’s why i am brainstorming on this forum.

Celine Belt Bag is probably the roomiest of your faves if you're trying to fit a laptop and diapers, among other things. It doesn't look dated, that shape seems to be coming back a bit.

Everyone raves about the Loewe Puzzle. It's understated yet recognizable. My questions on that one would be whether it carries your everyday essentials and whether it holds shape over time. But if all bags check off the box, Loewe would be my choice.

Good luck!

Thank you! These two are definitely at the top of my list  I guess once i see the bags in person I’ll know! Not sure when i’ll be making the trip because the closest boutiques (both Loewe and Celine) are in Copenhagen. I live in southern Sweden

Hi,
I dont have Celine 16 so no much help there, but I do have Loewe Puzzle in medium (Anthracite colour - dark gray grained leather) and I do have Celine Belt (Gray) in Micro (not mini). Celine Belt and Loewe Puzzle are both classic low key subtle pieces (definitely not in your face) but I find they give totally different vibes. I find Puzzle very relaxed and almost somewhat masculine (personal feel) which makes it a perfect everyday casual bag. Belt is more ladylike casual bag and though extremely hard-wearing, it ended up not been a daily bag for me.
All bags you have your eye on are rather fetching so I am sure whatever decision you make in the end - it's a win!

Thank you! I too see the Puzzle as a bit masculine, same as Proenza Schouler PS1. I am curious - was the Celine Belt Micro too small, or was it the slightly awkward clasp and/or something else that prevented it from being the perfect everyday bag? Love the grey color!

It is not too small at all! I also don‘t mind the clasp, to be honest. I think it was combination of things. I tend to prefer open top style bags for everyday use and Puzzle is perfect in that respect since I can leave it unzipped and yet it still looks awesome due to the small flap on the top. My most used bags for everyday are usually my Loewe Puzzle and Balloon bags, LV Capucines and Noe, Evelyn PM and Picotin 22 - all of which have an easy top access :hbeat:. Whenever I feel like using a flap bag, I tend to reach for my Chanel Boy or PM Noir in Empriente and, therefore, there is never really a point where I feel like “This is a perfect moment to use my Celine Belt” :frown:. It’s a gorgeous bag though and in my preferred colour (I absolute adore gray) but , alas, not as used as it should and could have been. Hope this makes sense .

What a collection, love it! I thought about getting the Capucines MM, it is a beautiful, classic, subtle bag, but heavy, even when empty:/

Thank you
My Capucines is in BB size so I use it on “carrying bare minimum with me” day. To be honest, I wouldn’t go larger than PM size due to potential loss of structure and it’s heaviness. Have you considered Celine Sangle bag? It comes in that beautiful taupe colour as well and it’s a rather lovely bag if you don’t mind semi-open top. Also, the wide canvas strap is extremely comfortable.
Now I want it…:facepalm::biggrin:

Same, only bare minimum in the BB. I think PM has been discontinued, too bad:/ what a lovely chic minimalistic bag the Sangle is  if I didn’t have the LV Maida Hobo, I’d definitely add the Celine Sangle to my wish list!

Hello from Copenhagen:smile: As planned, I have made the short trip to Copenhagen to check out the bags in person-so much fun! I will wait for Loewe to come out with a medium Puzzle in smooth leather in a color similar to sand, or grey, or olive even…
Love the Celine Belt Bag in Taupe and Grey! Now trying to decide between the Mini and Micro! The Micro looks like it can fit A LOT (in addition to the essentials such as wallet, keys, small toiletries bag) - water bottle, sunglass case, a planner… even a small umbrella! I am impressed! Another advantage of the Micro is the crossbody strap vs. short shoulder strap on the Mini. Two disadvantages: the tiny back pocket - regular sized phone won’t fit. Perhaps it’s meant for headset and/or cardholder; no “feet”:/
I do love it despite the above and am thinking to get the Micro in Taupe.
Or shall i go crazy and get the Loewe Puzzle Hobo in blue because it is 50%off here? jk! Oh, so is the entire Givenchy stock due toboutique closing! There is a beautiful oxblood antigona looking at me. 50% off on everything- crazy!
