The stunt goes like this: People make a video of themselves dumping a bucket of ice water on their heads, post it on Facebook, Instagram or other social media sites, and then challenge friends to do the same within 24 hours or donate $100 to ALS. (Many do both.)

‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ Has Raised Millions for ALS Association

I was HIGHLY disturbed watching the Lady Gaga one.
Charlie Sheen made one (It's on TMZ) but I have no clue how to post videos. He dumped a bucket of money over his head $10k and that's his donation.

If they do the challenge do they also donate as well? I'm confused.

The Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States. It went viral throughout social media in summer, 2014.[1][2]

The challenge required nominated participants to have a bucket of ice water poured on their head. One common stipulation gives 24 hours from the time they are nominated to complete the dare; otherwise, the participant has to donate $100 to charity.[3]

I don't believe they are all using ice water. The point of the challenge is to do it with Ice water (where you can see the chunks of ice).

Admittedly, I'm SOO tired of this filling up all my feeds; twitter, FB, instagram, etc. . . and being nominated to do it myself but sad to hear this:

Ice Bucket Challenge Pioneer Dies at 27 in a Diving Accident

Corey Griffin, one of the original pioneers of the viral ALS Ice Bucket Challenge movement, has died at 27 following a diving accident.
The philanthropist was in Nantucket Island on Friday evening for an ALS fundraiser, where he helped raise $100,000 for the cause. Hours later at around 2am, he dove into the water from the top of a building, but a horrible accident occurred. Corey “floated to the surface, then he sank. He did not come up again,” according to the Boston Globe. An off-duty lifeguard happened to be nearby and recovered his body from the bottom of the harbor.
Corey was close friends with Pete Frates, whose struggle with ALS was the launchpad for the Ice Bucket Challenge. He made it his mission to fight for the cause.
“He was the happiest guy in the world,” Corey’s father, Robert Griffin, said. “He called me last night and told me he was in paradise.”
We send out our thoughts and condolences to Corey‘s family during this difficult time.

^^^wow!! that's really sad!!!

I do have to say that these ice bucket challenges all over my FB are annoying...I highly doubly people are donating $$ which is the actual point, it's just become a stupid FB game...also, if you take the challenge, you are essentially saying you're NOT donating $$....
