Celebs star in charity Beano comic Thursday February 15, 05:42 AM Doctor Who, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and chat show king Jonathan Ross are set to appear alongside Dennis the Menace and the Bash Street Kids in the Beano comic. A special edition of the children's favourite featuring a host of stars has been created to raise money for Comic Relief. Footballers Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard also appear in the Ball Boy strip of the first issue of the new BeanoMAX comic, which goes on sale on Thursday. In the charity issue, Dr Who and the Daleks have an encounter with troublesome gang the Bash Street Kids. The gang need help with their homework but the Daleks tell them they must "study, or you'll all be exterminated". Elsewhere, Jamie Oliver takes over a school canteen, while pop band McFly and actor Rowan Atkinson drop in to see naughty schoolboy Dennis the Menace in a Red Nose balloon. In one scene, Dennis tells Jonathan Ross not to break anything, adding "That's my job". Euan Kerr, BeanoMAX editor, said: "We'd like to thank the people at Comic Relief for their fantastic support. The personalities featured have all been great sports and we hope they enjoy their portrayals in BeanoMAX." BeanoMAX, which will be published monthly, is aimed at readers aged nine to 13, an older audience than the Beano traditionally enjoys. The Beano, which will continue to be published weekly in tandem with the new publication, will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year.
