Hi everyone. I have seen some jewellery on sale and was wondering if any of you could tell me what the quality of CC Skye and Kenneth JL is like? Is it worth the money? Are you better off getting real gold instead of plated? Ive seen the CC buckle bracelet and leather wrap and the KJL pendants in the sale if that helps.

thanks xx

The "Gold" of Kenneth Jay Lane tarnishes/darkens, but I still feel it is good value for its price. A lot of his designs were made in real Gold/Enamel initially, but is now 'plated' so as to be more accessible price wise to a larger customer base.

I have only recently purchased CC Skye bracelet so I cannot comment on the endurance, but it is very well-made with a good finish. Given their price and the rising 18Kt/24Kt Gold Prices, what you could get with the same amount for a 'real' gold piece would probably be rather tiny and have a lot less 'oomph' IMO! :p

I have that same cc skye black leather with gold chain bracelet as seen on nicole richie...do you know which one I mean?

Anyway, I have had it for over a year & it is holding up great! Good value considering I get sooo many compliments on it & it was only $120 I think.

What pieces are you interested in?

I never sold CC Skye, but I have heard mixed opinions about its durability.

Are you talking about the CC skye bracelet that looks almost like the vita bangles?

The vita with the hexagons are on sale at bloomies...

On the other hand, I've sold KJL. His pieces are beautifully trendy and oh so popular.

Like all costume jewelry, it isn't going to stay pristine forever. I would buy a necklace or earrings before you buy somethihng that is going to get a lot of wear and tear like a bracelet or a ring.

Yes thats the one I have seen on sale but in a different colour! I was tempted to get the double wrap black leather one too but thats not on sale. The KJL pieces that I have seen in the sale are some coin earrings and the strawberry pendants - all different colours oh and a couple of bangles. :smile1:

I know what ones you mean but i am thinking about the buckle with the different coloured enamel or just plain silver/gold:

Hi, I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I also have the same question about the gold plated hardware on CC Skye products... I recently bought this CC Skye Onie bag and the gold is really, really shiny. I was wondering how the gold will look over time as it ages? Will it tarnish or age well? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

i have a cc sky bag with the leather/chain handles that come off and become those bracelets that nicole richie was seen wearing. i've had it for 3 years and it is still as shiny as ever. great quality!

This was the email I received from the CC Skye website:

The bags are 18k gold Plated and then lacquered. We have never had any problem with tarnishing but I have seen many other brands that have and do understand your question.

So, I'm assuming they hold up rather well according to the website? LOL.

I have a few KJL pieces - my favorite is the black apple with the crystal leaf long chain pendant. I love it! My chain has tarnished, however, and I believe it's because I would careless spritz my perfume over the necklace, which I know is a no-no. . .
