I am looking for a Jumbo single flap vintage bag ... would you suggest caviar or lambskin? Does one hold value better than the other? Pro/cons...let me know!!!
TIA!

For a bag of any age, I think that the most important factor to determine its value is the condition. If two bags are in the same condition, then the newer one would probably be worth more. Caviar leather tends to be more durable than lambskin, but that is a very general rule. I have seen plenty of vintage lambskin leather bags that look better than their caviar counterparts because they are better cared for.

I would love to know too.
saw a beautiful small double flap ant want to buy it but it's lambskin.
In generell I'm more a fan of lambskin just from the look. it's so smooth and even. the cavier is always with a structure

Old lambskin is pretty durable, from what I've heard.

I think if you're more klutzy or want to baby your bag less, then caviar.
If you know you're very gentle with bags, then lambskin. Especially if you like the luxurious look.

Agree with @tinyturtle .
I'd add that if it's vintage the value is already lost, it won't be worth more in time, just less with every year. For that reason, I'd select the newer of the two. I think caviar (recently) holds value better but most vintage bags are actually lambskin and look amazing. Personally, I would select lamb since it represents Chanel vintage, but it depends on your own preferences and how you plan to use the bag.

I think vintage caviar worth more mainly because it is more rare than vintage lambskin. At least in Japan, caviar Diana or CF costs way more than the lambskin ones. Personally I love vintage lambskin, they are so durable and much more luxurious than the lambskin today. But all in all, I think condition is the most important factor when it comes to vintage bag value.

All my vintage flaps are in lambskin and they are VERY durable. I don't know what it is about the leather that was used 20+ years ago but it looks amazing year after year. I baby my bags but I'm not neurotic about them when I wear them out. Any superficial scratch I've noticed can be easily buffed out.
