Cat saves boy from dog attack! True story & video

This is true, and of course once a dog has attacked a child, can no longer be trusted. I can't help thinking though that somehow upbringing is responsible for aggressive animals. We live near a park and is full of dogs wondering around off leash. It's never occurred to me that I might be attacked as they are always very friendly. I am dog person and we used to have them at home, and can generally read the signs of an unhappy animal that was hurt and is now aggressive. Most animals will attack only if hungry or scared, Or if they were trained to do so.
I love all animals but dogs that are not 'brought up' properly really infuriate me. I know its the owner, but this isn't always the case though. there are many breeds who are bred specifically for these traits. Cattle dogs or working dogs (e.g. German Shepherds, Heelers etc) are bred to nip the heels of the cattle or sheep etc. When people take these dogs off farms and put them in their backyard as pets they still have these traits, its just part of their nature. Not to mention those breeds that are meant for fighting which will still bite first no matter if they have a loving owner or not. You can love your dog and be the best owner in the world, but if you don't train and discipline your dog or understand dog behaviour and hierarchies' there will always be trouble.

Exactly! ...and if people want to buy a 'pedigree research is essential to check the characteristics of the animal.:goodpost: why on earth do people buy fighting dogs?

I saw this vid, the cat is amazing. Goodness knows what would have happened if the cat hadn't...:nogood:

I don't know what to think about the dog, I LOVE dogs, all kinds, but I don't know if I could ever trust that dog again. The problem seems to be in many cases that dogs just run around in their own yard/garden without ever going OUT with their owners, meeting and greeting other people and dogs, hence being socialised. My sister's (HUGE Shepard) rescue dog comes from the States, she has no idea how to act 'in public' though always a sweetie at home, it's like taking a runaway train for a walk. Years later, my sister's still training (pun intended). In this case we don't know about these neighbours but surely its behaviour doesn't come from nowhere.

Anyway, I hope this incident changes people's perception of cats, who I found to be just as much as relationship-forming, brave and loyal as many dogs
