I was just looking at the Cartier tank watch on Cartier uk website its exactly what I'm looking for gold and not in your face blingy ....
Not everyone will know what it is whereas Rolex everyone does
One problem is I hate the brown alligator strap .... Can Cartier change it for a black strap ???
I'm looking at the Americane yg ladies watch

They had gold plated watches in the very beginning -I think tank vermeil or so? I often see them on ebay. But every watch in gold sold by Cartier now, is no less than 18 ct gold. No worries :)
And for the strap - they have a whole book with different band colors or materials. So yes they can change it.

I asked the same question at the Cartier store in Saks NYC and they told me they would be willing "to work with me" to change out the strap for a different color.

Such a beautiful watch!!

And FWIW, I was told the current Louis model is solid 18K. Only the vintage "Must" Tank watches are gold vermeil.

I own a Tank Louis Cartier, small size. It is solid 18 ct gold with a black strap. When I got it (1999), I was able to choose my favorite kind of strap. I wear the watch every day and I had to change the strap two times until now. I change the battery every 2-3 years - I always do it when I am near a Cartier boutique, so perhaps the battery would actually work longer.
