I am going to Paris next month, and I'm thinking about buying a watch. I recently had a baby, and I love the idea of buying something substantial which I can pass on to my daughter one day. I love the idea of a Cartier watch, but then I came across the Louis Vuitton Emprise watches, and my heart skipped a beat.

I posted a question about the LV watches in the LV forum but didn't get many responses. I know you all are Cartier lovers, so I'm just wondering if anyone out there considered an LV watch and ended up with a Cartier. If you made that choice, I'd love to hear why. TIA!

I would go with a Cartier. They have a long history when it comes to watches and jewelry. I tend to go with the classics. But, it all boils down to personal preference. You should get what you like and enjoy the most!

I would certainly recommend the gold version of the emprise with the cushion dial for its aesthetic value. If you are talking steel than it is more of a toss up. Either way you'll end up with a decent watch!

If you're going for a look you like now go with christofle's suggestion. If you're looking for something that will increase in value and stay a classic go for Cartier.

The reason why you did not yield a response in the lv forum is because most lv lovers there are not into as fine of jewelry as this forum. If you look at pictures or even on YouTube for girls who review lv, they mainly wear Tiffany silver, costume jewelry, and of course their wedding set/anniversary gifts etc. the most common nice watch I see there is a Rolex or a Cartier tank.

Obviously that is not everyone, as I am the exception of the rule, but I have noticed this is the majority taste in jewelry on both YouTube and the forum. it's usually the most voracious lv buyers that have experience with the watch you mentioned. I have a Cartier watch and I love it. My vote is always Cartier.
