Cartier vs Hermès watches

Hello everyone, I’m considering to purchase a new watch. I already have white ceramic from Rado with diamonds and totally happy with it. However I need some winter watches for my wardrobe. I think about spending up to 4K. So Tank Solo (and Santos in blue alligator) from Cartier is nice, as well as Hermès H with diamonds and alligator leather. Nice aesthetic, but how good are they as watches? Have anyone had some quality issues with them? I’ll be happy to hear some suggestions about e.g. Rolex (how much are steel watches without diamonds the boutique?)

Cartier makes proper watches. Hermès makes fashion watches. It is as simple as that. Cartier has better quality, and better resale value.

What’s a main difference between Santos and Panter? I consider Rolex since couple of days and was in their website - they have so many models - what’s the classic?

My parents have worn their Cartier watches since the mid 80s and they are still in good shape. Hopefully the quality is still there.
