Hello Everyone! Looking to gift myself a gift, and would love to know your thoughts. Help me to decide if I should go with yellow gold or white? I think I like the yellow gold more but it might be too flashy… the white gold is more discreet but looks like it the finish is coming out after some time and needed to be played with rodium but I might be wrong. Another debate that I have is as much as I like the Panthere watch it looks too popular and I see it all the time. Whereas, the tank francaise is not a as popular or maybe I just don’t see it as much on people around and on social media.

1) YG vs WG with rhodium plating

If I had to choose between the 2, I’d go for yellow gold. (Though personally I’d go for stainless steel for everyday.)
Yes the WG is rhodium plated, so it will wear down and you’d need to bring it back to Cartier to get it replated. For me, that’s kind of a pain and something I don’t want to deal with but for others it may not be that big of a deal.
The YG definitely has more of a presence. It is flashier and probably something I would not wear everyday. But at least I would not have to deal with replating.

2) Panthere “too popular” vs Tanks

Where I live I see Chanel bags on a daily basis and a fair amount of Cartier love.
But a Cartier watch? Not so much.
Even on social media I see more Cartier jewelry than Cartier watches. And actually on social media it’s a pretty even turnout of Panthere and Tanks, maybe a little more Tank. (But that depends on algorithms, favoriting photos and preferences)
What I’m saying is that, for me, I think it’s hard to say when something is “too popular”.

On a side note, I have the Panthere in two-tone. I’ve told my story a couple of times on this thread before but long story short, I never considered it and always thought I would get a tank. It wasn’t until I tried it on when I had a change of heart.

If you haven’t gone in to try the watches, I highly recommend it. And if you’re still not sure take photos to compare and think about later.

Here are some of my photos: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/cartier-watch-photo-comparisons-panthere-and-tanks.1057434/

Regardless of what you decide, honestly you can’t go wrong with either! They are both beautiful and classic pieces!

I personally want the panthere in the yellow gold but having the same dilemma as you in worrying if it’s too flashy for everyday. The white gold is definitely more discreet but I’m a yellow gold girl!! Have you tried the 2 tone? I liked it a lot more than I thought I would plus it’s cheaper!

I have the two-tone Francaise and it goes with everything. EVERYTHING. EVERY. THING.
Me too! I think it's my favourite watch of all-time. I'm even wearing it today.

However, I'm considering a Panthere for a milestone birthday and based on all three options, am leaning towards the stainless steel, as the gold is too flashy and I already have 2 two-tone watches (Tank Francaise plus a Lady Datejust 26):

I'm just not sure if having both the Tank Francaise and Panthere will look redundant in my collection. :hrmm:

The Panthere has a really different vibe—it’s softer and more feminine, IMO. I don’t think it looks all that similar to the Francaise, aside from the classic white face.

Would you consider doing the Panthere with the black dial and no numerals, if you’d want something a bit different? Link: https://www.cartier.com/en-us/watch...ier/panthere-de-cartier-watch-CRWSPN0010.html

Thanks for the feedback re: Panthere vs Francaise.

I would probably stick to the roman numeral dial as I'm such a traditionalist.

Hi Everyone! Thank you all of you for sharing your thoughts and photos. I went to the store in the city and came to the conclusion that I am a yellow gold gal, even though I have WG pieces but I prefer diamonds on them.
After looking at pre-owned watches on TRR and other websites I found Panthere and Francaise in YG and purchased them both to see which one I like. The dial on F 20x25mm turns out to be too very small (it doesn’t look like it on the photos though for some reason lol) I keep the Panthere because the bracelet is so comfortable. Now, I am eyeing Tank Francaise in the medium size 25x30 mm but it won’t be happening anytime soon overall, my opinion is that both are beautiful and I want them both! Currently, I am also loving the vintage two tone santos, as I love masculine oversized clothing. Didn’t expect to love the Panthere watch but it is such a beautiful piece that I thought it will be nice to mix feminine and masculine vibes.
