I purchased a brand new Tank Francaise, I love it so much and want to keep it forever to one day pass down to one of my children. I really don't wear it very often because I'm afraid of damaging it. My husband says why spend so much money and not wear and enjoy it regularly. I usually wear it on weekends. I'm curious how other wear theirs, who wears it everyday or only occasionally. I feel like I should enjoy it and wear it daily. Thoughts? Another question. Mine is the small size with the date at 4 o'clock. Anyone know when that would have been made? Or how to find out when it was made? I purchased mine brand new last December 2014 and it needed a new battery by May. The battery change was covered by the warranty but the SA told me it was an older watch? Does this make sense?

That's true. It's a older watch. I know when they stopped making the small size with the date because when you look on Cartier website all the medium and small sizes do not have the date function

I am considering buying the Tank Francaise, I just need to figure out what size I want. When I do buy it, I plan to wear it every single day :smile1:
Please wear your gorgeous watch, why else have it?

WEAR IT EVERYDAY!! Personally I don't think it's flashy and that it is an everyday watch. Enjoy it. I totally understand though, I feel that way with everything I buy that's new and expensive!

The Cartier tank watch's sleek design actually makes it the easiest watch to wear and less likely to damage. I agree. Wear it daily. If you get scratches Cartier can buff it out for you later down the line.

Did you buy it new from Cartier?

I read somewhere online that any of the Tank Francaise with a date on it is an older watch, however it is not necessarily the case with other Cartier watch styles. I saw a TF small which didn't have a date, the jeweler guessed it was made between 2000-2005 which is when he claims this watch was extremely popular thus Cartier produced a lot of it. Just repeating what I heard from a watch seller.

WHEN AND HOW SHOULD THE BATTERY BE CHANGED?

The average lifespan of your battery is between two and three years.

We advise you never to leave a used battery inside your watch, since its deterioration may lead to the deterioration of the whole movement.
To change a battery, entrust your watch to a Cartier After-Sales Service at any Cartier boutique or at an authorized dealer's.
As part of the battery changing service, and as required by the Cartier warranty whenever a watch is opened, the Cartier technician will also test the water-resistance of your watch.

A TF is definitely a watch to wear daily. Mine is in perfect state and 15 years old automatic, only polished once recently for 150 box and water resistant tested. Only once checked in the beginning .
Ar real keeper!
