This is my first post in the Cartier forum and I've enjoyed reading all the information that I could find here! Forgive me if this topic has been asked before, I wasn't able to find it. I have recently begun my search for a Cartier watch for my wedding anniversary. It has become a full time endeavor! I originally was hoping for the tank francaise small but then I was shown the tank solo and the price difference is quite substantial. This is my dilemma. My husband would be willing to buy the tank solo new but we're not quite to the price point of a tank francaise yet so we've been looking into used watches for this one. What should I do? Purchase the tank solo new or the tank francaise used?
I've looked around for discounts and the best I've been able to find is 5%. I even had the nerve to ask at the Cartier store and they were so kind and said five years ago they were able to discount off the price of the watches but no longer. I have an estate jewelry store in my town that I've bought from in the past and they had a Tank francaise medium that I was going to buy but when I asked them to remove the back of the watch so I could see the inner workings the inside cover on back of the watch said in permanent marker "water got in". I felt like I dodged a bullet by seeing this because the jeweler had no idea, which didn't sit very well with me. (I'll include a picture)
Thank you for reading and any advice is welcome! If any authorized dealers can be recommended I'd also appreciate that!
