Hi. I am sorry I am very new to branded fine Jewelry buying. I am wondering if someone with more expertise can tell me if this "entry level" tank watch is worth it. Or if I am better saving more. I am trying to decided whether to get this now or some gold jewlery.ImageUploadedByPurseForum1434687992.113491.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1434688003.144093.jpg

I'm assuming you are buying it for the design? It's worth it if you think it is, and if you need a watch. I have the Cartier tank francaise, self-winding, medium size. I bought it over a more expensive/durable watch because I prefer the Cartier design. If you wear a watch everyday, and like the look of this piece, buy the watch. If you think you will get more use out of gold jewelry, get the gold. Lots of people don't use watches bc they just carry a cell phone, so just depends on if you think you will wear the watch. (I personally think if you are watch shopping, you should try on some different brands to see what you like the look and feel of best. No need to rush.)

I personally think it's worth it. I have a Rolex and a few pieces of Cartier. But I don't own a Cartier watch yet but this is actually the one I'm going to buy when I do finally get a Cartier watch. So I'm partial to it because I want one too, lol

Thanks I am thinking of either getting this or getting the trinity ring and a pair of earrings from Tiffany. I need a watch, mine broke four years ago and I never replaced it. I wasn't sure though if I should wait until I could afford more, like more water resistant and maybe automatic.

My husband used to work with an upscale crowd way before me, and he bought practically every brand of fancy watch there is. (Those days are over, so I don't have a comparison opinion.) His favorite watches hands down are his Cartier and his Omega. Before I even knew what a Cartier watch looked like, I saw his and about died at the beauty. I don't know if it's the particular face he has, but the mother of pearl is one of the most luxurious and beautiful I've ever seen. Hard to describe.

I personally would go for the watch over the Tiffany jewelry. I have some Tiffany jewelry and it seems hit and miss.

Edit to add: His Cartier is probably 15+ years old and still going strong. It's held up very well and still looks amazing.

Hi, if you want to buy a watch I would stick with stainless steel and Rolex or Cartier. A watch will hold its value much better than the jewelry, especially anything gold.

But if you have no intentions of ever reselling the pieces then it doesn't really matter either way.

Cartier always looks classy and stainless has a nice modern look and feel.

Thanks, those are the two brands I am interested in. I like the Cartier but feel if I am going to get a watch, I prefer waterproof. I am still undecided.
