Cartier santos 100 / 838738MX 2878

I found this watch, cartier santos 100 with 838738MX 2878 on its back, and I did hours of research on this watch and didn't get any luck on it, I could find 838738MX with leather strap, or 2878 which was something else, is it 838738MX 2878 even existing? is this a totally knock off cartier watch ? help me please!!!

I guess no body here can help me, this watch belongs to my mother in law's brother, who passed away and this was found in his locker. just try to find out

The best way to find out more information about the watch is taking it to a Cartier boutique, if possible. You can also take it to any Cartier authorized dealer/ seller. Good luck!
