I am thinking of buying a Cartier Roadster but I am really concerned about the scatching. Is it really that bad?

Is it just the braclet or is it the face of the watch too? ...... I would hate to spend that much money and within a few months have a beat up looking watch. I've never been one to baby my watches...

For those of you who own them would you buy it again despite the scratches?

I have the same watch and I don't mind the scratches. I think they blend in over time. It depends on you.:flowers:

Any watch made with 316L steel and highly polished will show scratches very easily. The majority of SS watches are made with 316L, so there is nothing unique about the Roadster that makes it show scratches more than any other watch.

If you are worried about scratches, look for a brushed metal or PVD/DLC covered watch. The other option is to be careful with it, keep it clean and use your polishing cloth to buff out any daily wear marks. I personally, coat all of my watches with renaissance wax. It protects it pretty good, and they get buffed every night.

Hi there! I've been wearing my Roadster for about 7 months and even though I'm pretty careful it has a few small scratches already. I don't even wear it on a daily basis or to work. I know it will get banged up because I work with my hands all day. Honestly, if you're hard on your watches and don't like the patina of scratches you may want to consider a different watch.

Good luck with your choice! :smile1:

I have had mine for about 6 years. It definitely has a lot of scratches, but it doesn't bother me in the least. Scratches are basically all on the band, on the shiny parts only, not the brushed parts or the face at all. My jeweler was adamant about the fact that watches are made to be worn and enjoyed, so I follow that. I have never had it polished, but I believe you can do that occasionally if necessary.
