hi,

Was wondering if anyone know what's the difference between these 2 Cartier ring boxes? (Refer to pics)

Like which one was the newer version or do Cartier give different boxes for different ring collections?

I’m personally not sure if one is older than the other or if Cartier simply just has two different ring boxes but for reference, I bought two rings in Dec 2019 and both came with the bottom box you’ve shown. I was told the box/case that has the flap was new too and I only got one of those boxes and the other was the older version since their stock was low during Christmas time.

I’ve had three different versions of a inner ring box. I think it depends what style of ring you buy. Like a lot of simple bands or thin bands they will put in the one with the simple slit. Rings like trinity or rings that are very wide they prefer to use the ring box that stands the ring more upright. I’ve been shopping with Cartier for many many years and they have had those ring boxes the whole time.

Now the outer box with the flap down is newer. Before the base of the outer just use to be a solid square. Hopefully that makes sense.

I see, that's good to know. I guess they'll just pick the ring box that they think will fit the ring you purchase then and there. I wonder if they give the newer box(the one with the flap down)to the more expensive rings to secure it tighter in place.

I think the boxes have more to do with the year they are produced and what is in circulation and less to do with the pricing of a certain item. I purchased the Cartier Destinée Eternity Ring back in 2015 and have the top box for my ring and the outer box did not have the flap design. I have noted that more recent purchases of Cartier items have the outer boxes with the flap.
