Cartier Pearls

Its hard to tell from the pictures, but 3,500 sounds very pricey. They look to be slightly out-of-round and the luster doesn't look exceptional, but I'm not sure how much of the "designer markup" is factoring into that price. 6,000 original retail really sounds outrageous for 6.5mm's. They also look like they may need to be re-strung, IMO

For less than 3,500 you could get a strand of round Akoya 6.5mm pearls with no noticible blemishes and high to very high luster.

This website does a good job of explaning the 7 factors of pearl pricing:
You can check out their pricing too.

Overpriced. I think you are paying for the Cartier name on those. I'd pass and do pearlsonly.com or another similar site or if you want a brand, Mikimoto for sure.

Thanks a lot for your advice guys – this is super informative.

I doubt I will get these pearls now that I’ve read your posts. I’m going to do some more homework with the links you provided and hopefully I’ll find a beautiful pearl necklace soon

I agree with the above posts - overpriced for 6.5mms. It is the Cartier-factor.

Mikimoto would be a better option for brand-name pearls in my opinion.
