Hi all,
I’m considering the Cartier Panthère mini watch in white gold with diamonds. It’s a beautiful piece, but given the price point, I’d love to hear from anyone who owns it. Are you still happy with it? How is it wearing over time—any thoughts on durability, comfort, or versatility? Would really appreciate any insights or experiences before making the leap!

Thanks in advance!

It is a beautiful style and a cute size! Personally, though, I would suggest considering a metal other than WG unless you are only going to wear it here and there, not daily. The plating on the WG may not wear that well over time, whereas YG or stainless steel on a watch worn daily will look fresh and fairly new for many years to come.

Thank you for you repose! I'm not playing to wear it daily, but I do like care free pieces 😬
I would really appreciate it if you could help with these questions:
- Is Cartier usually able to restore the plating in watches?
- If the plating wears off, is the watch going to look dull or gray or what should I expect? I'm really confused about this, because I have some white gold earrings and necklaces that I've worn daily, showered in etc. and I didn't notice any wear. I thought that any gold was care free for everyday use.

Thanks again!

You'd have to ask your SA at Cartier to be sure how they would handle it. My friend's WG Cartier watch is looking past its prime with the plating issue, but I have not heard what resolution they might offer yet.

You won't notice it as much with necklaces or earrings; they don't get the sort of wear and tear that rings, bracelets, and watches do. Also, the type of plating and alloy used for that particular piece can vary (ie some brands Rhodium plate their white gold, some don't, some have more nickel in the alloy, etc.)

Some general info here may help: https://www.watchplating.com/platinum-plating-primer

My SA told that it'll take like 15 years to wear off the plating and that Cartier would replate it if necessary. I'm not sure if he's just trying to make the sale though... I might just call the generic customer service number and ask about replating.

I wish they had the mini in SS with diamonds 😌😌
