Hi all,

Thought this could be fun to see how our tastes have changed or stayed the same.

What metals were your preference when you first got into jewelry or Cartier? What do you prefer these days?

Do you prefer stacked or more minimalist these days?

Do you opt for no diamonds or diamonds these days? Or other stones?

For me I went from being obsessed with rose gold everything to being firmly seized by yellow gold. I find it so elegant these days, I think I hated it because I grew up with very yellow gold and everyone was into silver/white gold in those days! Now I wish I appreciated yellow gold because I've grown tired of the rose gold. I opt for white gold for diamond set pieces and that has never changed.

Why did you stop enjoying rose gold? I bought a few yellow gold pieces from Cartier, but have started to see them as too bright and yellow. Rose gold sometimes looks too orange/brassy in certain lighting when I’ve been in the store, and it also kind of blends in with my skin… so I haven’t bought any *yet*.

Oh and I started out loving stacking necklaces and bracelets, but it makes me feel too cluttered now. Now I like one necklace and only two bracelets stacked at most.

I used to like variety, but now I like uniform and minimalist jewelry.
Also, mixing metal colors gives me stress. I keep trying and maybe it will grow on me someday (I have small white gold and yellow gold love bracelets, but stacking them together still bothers me).

Visually, I am most attracted to yellow gold. Cartier’s yellow gold is just so beautiful, with a warmth that other designers don’t have. However, when I look at pictures of myself, I really do think my neutral-cool skin suits white metals best. I look so much more glowy and bright.

So I’m currently trying to build out my white metals jewelry set. I have a platinum right hand ring (platinum is my strong preference for rings), and now am on the hunt for a white gold necklace with diamonds for everyday. I prefer rhodium plated white gold necklaces on me vs the more grayish tone of platinum. The D’Amour is too small, I wish Cartier had more white gold pendant options (really, more pendant offerings in any metal!).

No one is more suprised than I am because I hated yellow gold growing up. I feel like it is rich and timeless and the rose gold looks dated and not as good on my skin tone.

I’m consistently white gold. Ideally with a touch of diamonds (not too much though) since I feel it’s both elegant and edgy which describes my style very well. I’m also a deep winter and my skin tone suits white gold / platinum best. While I can see the appeal of yellow gold, yellow (and orange) is my worst color for skin tone.

I wore white gold when I was younger but now opt for yellow gold. I keep thinking there will come a time I’ll branch out and get some white gold for variety, but I think yellow gold tends to suit my skin tone better.
