I need advice please! This is a two part question:
I have a size small yellow gold Cartier Panthere watch with diamonds that I adore. I recently sent her in for a complete service. They asked if I prefer steam polish/cleaning or a full polishing which can remove a layer of gold. I was told my watch would look brand new with the latter so I agreed. The watch doesn’t show scratches but of course if you look closely you can find some. The idea of having it look brand new is tempting. Should I have opted out of a full polishing? With the panthere links, will polishing somehow compromise the shape of the links? Will it make the gold look weird? I’m so confused as to what to expect from a full polishing. I heard that the beautiful edges of a love bracelet are rounded out which many people don’t like. Has anyone had a full on polishing on their gold Cartier pieces they’d mind sharing? Perhaps posting a photo? There is still time I can call and ask to just steam it.

Part II: I would like to purchase the narrow panthere maillon bracelet in yellow gold to complement the watch. Does anyone have a combo of panthere bracelet watch and maillon bracelet together? I know there are double and triple loop panthere watches available now and I want to go for that look by combining my watch with a new maillon bracelet. All help especially photos would be much appreciated!!!

Seriously, no one on this forum has any advice about Cartier’s complete polishing service and its effect on gold?? I find that hard to imagine. Or rather, disappointing.

I would go for the steam cleaning just to remove any dirt, etc. You stated yourself you don't have any major scratches so why go for taking a layer of gold off assuming you have not had it for a very long time? A full polish, in my opinion, should only be done very seldom when it looks very banged up and from years and years of wear. I probably would not get a full polish for at least a decade of wear! Your watch is lovely, and I have been eyeing the mini RG Panthere watch, but when I sent my Pasha in for service, I did not get a full polish even though I have two visible scratches under the wrist area (don't know how I even got them! I seldom wear it and am so careful!).

I called to say i changed my mind about the deep polishing part of the complete service. I don’t think it needs it but they told me they can do what they call a hand polishing which is a deep clean but without the machine polishing. Thank you!
