Hello all

I’m looking for a really dainty diamond band and have narrowed it down to the Cartier Etincelle and the Tiffany Metro. Just wondering if anyone has any mod shots of either. It is the thinnest versions they do that I’m looking at. I was able to try the Cartier one yesterday but Tiffany didn’t have theirs in stock. Any opinions and pictures welcome!

Hi MsKaren! Here is my Tiffany Metro (in platinum). I really love this ring, so dainty yet beautiful! I like to wear it by itself or together with my True ring. Hope this helps!

It’s beautiful! Thank you so much. I’m drawn more to the Tiffany one due to it being platinum rather than white gold. If you are able would you be able to share a picture of the side profile so I can see the depth of the band? No worries if you can’t. I noticed that the Cartier ring cuts quite far into the metal so you can see the sides of the diamonds a lot more than I expected.

I’ve checked the Tiffany website and they don’t have it in stock in any London stores so if I want to see it I may have to just order it to try at home. Do you feel yours is suitable for every day wear due to it being so delicate?

I have made a few photos, I hope they help!

The depth of the ring is a little more than 1 mm, I would say 1,5 mm (the width is 1 mm), but (from a side view) you can see only the top part of the stones (if that makes sense...)

I find it absolutely perfect for everyday wear since it's platinum! My SA said you have to be more careful with a white gold diamond ring, and clients often have problems with the stones falling out... Necklaces, earrings are OK, but not the rings.

I'm in love with the Metro collection for ages, but earlier the ring was available in white gold only. I bought it when Tiffany started to make it in platinum. I have it for 4,5 years, wear it a lot (even by itself) and never had a problem with it.

Are the other variants (gold / rose gold) unavailable in the stores as well? I know it is not the same but at least you could try before ordering.

Thank you so much you’re a star! It’s really helpful to see these angles. I saw another ring from a smaller jewellers and the side profile was mostly just metal and I wasn’t too keen on it. The Tiffany one looks somewhere in the middle between the Cartier and the one I saw elsewhere.

It’s great to know you’ve been wearing it for a while and haven’t had any problems with it. I’m not sure if it will work with my wedding ring as I think my wedding ring has a much deeper profile. Unfortunately the website doesn’t show any of the other golds as being in stock so I will need to order it or ask if they can get it into a store for me to view.

I will contact Tiffany this week I think and see what they say. Thank you so much for your help, absolutely stunning ring and looks gorgeous on you!

Sorry for not answering for days, I had a quite busy week
The Metro ring has a low profile indeed. Also my wedding band is higher than the Metro, and though I love to wear them together sometimes, they look a bit odd next to each other - because of the height difference. Not extremly bad, you know, just... not the best.

Anyway, I hope you can try it in a boutique, earlier my SA could order anythig I wanted (just to view or try). I don't know if this is still possible, I haven't bought anythig from Tiffany lately, but maybe it's worth a call... Let me know if you could try it and how you decided. :flowers: Have you mod photos of the Cartier?

No worries, I’ve had a busy one too this week! I think my wedding ring is about 1.7mm deep and the Cartier ring in my size matched really well I thought. I tried the thicker band at Cartier too but that didn’t match as well. I did get some pics of the 1.5mm Cartier ring but I didn’t take any trying on the thicker band, I’m not sure why. I will upload the pics.

I guess it might always be hard to match band depths but as long as it’s not too off it shouldn’t be a problem. I think I’d prefer my wedding ring to be the slightly deeper one if I had to choose.

I’m about to embark on getting my engagement ring remade, it’s always had a slightly dodgy claw unfortunately since I got it and the band doesn’t match my wedding ring as I’d like so I’m meeting with the jeweller in the next couple of weeks about that. So I’m putting the eternity ring on the back burner until I’ve had my engagement ring done.

On our first year anniversary my husband bought me a Tiffany channel set eternity ring. I haven’t worn it for years because I lost a lot of weight and went from an N//7 to a J/5 ring size and my the ring can’t be resized. But I pulled it out of my jewellery box and have worn my wedding ring on top of it to hold it in and I’m quite liking it being there, I’ll attach a pic. I’m now getting hugely sentimental over it and wondering about whether to get a new one or not. But the Tiffany Metro is a different style so…? I really don’t know anymore! Have been thinking a lot about rings! I will upload the pics from Cartier and how I’m wearing my existing eternity ring.

Oh I love, LOVE the set of your wedding band & the channel-set Tiffany! It is absolutely gorgeous and beautiful! What a lovely husband you have! Honestly, I am not sure if I would buy an other eternity band if I were you. OK I understand we always have to have new dreams, goals, rings  but this set you already have is really amazing.
It is a very good idea to wear the wedding ring on the top of the eternity to "secure" it. I myself do the same with my wedding band and the Metro, since the Metro is a bit loose (I lost a lot of weight lately too).

BUT! I have to admit, I also love the Cartier ring on you and it is a different style indeed. I bet the Metro would look on your slim, elegant fingers amazing as well. So lovely, delicate, dainty. Plus, you need an eternity band you can wear it by itself, since the channel-set you can't!! I absolutely understand your dilemma :giggle:

How often do you wear your engagement ring? I myself don't wear mine everyday, only when we go out for dinner or on weekends. It's simply not comfortable, it always slides around, I am always afraid of loosing or hitting the stone (sorry I hope I express myself rightly, English is not my mother language).. Anyhow, I hope your jeweller can reset it the way you would like. :girlsigh: Let me know and post pictures, when you have news!

Just wondering what you decided?
Hello, neither at the moment, I did go and try on the Tiffany Metro ring and I really fell in love with it, it just didn’t go as well as I hoped with my engagement and wedding ring and my husband felt I needed a wider diamond band. So I am still pondering it really because while I do think a wider band would look better the Metro stole my heart. That being said I need to find some wider bands to try on and it’s not something I’ve got round to doing yet so time will tell!

I’ll attach a couple of pictures I took of the Metro ring in case it’s helpful to anyone but please excuse the state of my nails!
