I am looking to purchase a diamond ring for my wife and was considering Cartier as an option. I wanted to ask anyone who bought an engagement ring from Cartier did you consider other jewelers? And why did you pick Cartier?

The budget I am considering is between 40k USD.

I looked at cartier but they didn’t have any designs I liked. I think it depends on what your partner wants, like diamond shape, setting, etc. I went with Tiffany because I wanted a 6 prong setting which cartier doesn’t offer for round brilliants.

I love Cartier but I don’t believe in designer priced diamonds/e-rings.
I’ve been blessed with 2 amazing rings and would use both jewelers all over again before paying extra for a name brand.
Victor Canera is THE BEST imo. He’s amazing at what he does and is sooooo easy to work with.
I also loved working with Leon Mege.

I don’t know anything about Cartier diamonds per se; but I know Graff has incredible diamonds.
Question is do you want to pay for the big brand name or go less branded but maybe bigger or higher specs?
There’s no wrong choice, just personal preference.
Also depending on what is meaningful to her- for some the Tiffany ring & blue box mean a lot; for others not at all.

I’m not sure how many carats you’re after, but you are definitely paying for the name with Cartier versus other retailers… so if this is more about the name vs size and specs for you, that would be helpful to know.

Thanks everyone for your response. The reason for me to go with branded diamond because where I live it's impossible to find a good jeweler and buying from said brands are easier.

I am thinking between Cartier, Graff, VCA and Tiffany. For these 4 brands Tiffany is the cheapest if we compare same specs diamonds.

We worked online exclusively with Canera, just putting it out there.

Based on what my family and friends have been buying and through my personal experience, I find Graff the best for this type of situation. Cartier, Tiffany, and VCA I prefer for more stylized/designer fine jewelry and Graff for unique, timeless, and high-quality pieces.

In the end, though, you're paying a premium for the "name" obviously.
