Hi yall! I am going to Barcelona next week for an early birthday trip and am curious if anyone knows the vat refund percentage for Spain when it comes to jewelry? Online shows anywhere between 10-15% so not totally sure the exact figure. I know the prices are pretty much universal when it’s all said and done, but I still like to purchase items on vacations so I can always have the memory! Thank you!

Hello, it really varies and at least up to 15% is what you will usually receive back. Make sure to inform the shop that you want to obtain VAT refund as not all shop offers tax-free shopping. Enjoy your birthday trip and happy shopping! :)

Hi there! When we were in Madrid in August the VAT refund was 12%. From my understanding, the percentage is based on the cost of the item (could be wrong, but this is what we were told). I was considering the diamond reg size JUC and that qualified for 12% VAT.

Hey! Thanks for sharing, very helpful to know. When getting your VAT, asides from the 5% airport fee, did you by any chance have to pay any other fees when returning home?
