I wonder if anyone could give me their thoughts or if you have had the same bag any feedback.
I have just received the carryall mm in canvas. I have wanted this bag for a while and chose it over the leather version even though I prefer the zip on those. I just love the casual vibe of the bag and it will make a great travel bag too.
I have seen a YouTube video from an ex LV CA and she said she would never buy a bag in canvas from them especially with folded corners. This is exactly what this bag has. I have checked all my other canvas LV’s and a lot of mine have piped edges. The only bag I probably have with folded corners is the Maida but that is in leather.
Please can anyone with the canvas carryall advise how the corners are looking. Also anyone with another Louis with such corners…..did you have issues. I do love the bag but just would rather send it back unused instead of having pain in the future.
thank you x

I also have this bag, it was love at first sight! I just had to get it whether the corners are folded or not
I know what youtubers and warnings you are referring to, but I for myself decided to just love and enjoy this bag. As I always rotate my bags, they dont get too much use. So I hope this will keep her in good condition.
Basically I know about all these corner wear and cracking horror storys, but on the other hand for example there are soooo many people owning the Graceful and only few seem to have issues.
And…. nothing can shock me anymore since I once saw a woman with a canvas NF abused in the worst way! :wtf: The complete body of the bag was slashed an full of big holes, the lining hung in tatters outside! Wish I took a pic! It was unbelievable. So long story short I think you can protect and baby every bag or you can scrap every bag…
Of course the corners are to watch for, but they get also wear and tear on bags like the NF (canvas rubbing off, lining showing through)

If you do buy it, you have to bake in--and not complain about later on--the possibility of it acquiring corner wear to the point of damage. If you're the kind of person who will go bananas if that were to happen, and expect some fix from LV that can't in fact be done, then consider carefully. Personally I do avoid bags with this structure.

^this.

I had an illovo mm purchased new (I think back around 2007) and eventually sold it to Fashionphile for little $ as the corners all wore. Fashionphile sold it at their outlet. Looking back I should have taken it to my non lv repair place and asked for a modification as I loved the bag.

I now try to avoid pointed or folded canvas corners.

I wouldn't buy no more a bag with folded corners!
I have had 2 LV bags with folded corners and have sold them after a few months because the corners had signs of wear and some very fine cracks. I baby my bags, I put them never on the floor and store them in the dustbag. But the folded corners are sensible!

Hello.

Nowadays canvas quality is a questionable thing. Most of the bags, no matter of the design, will show signs of wear eventually. You need to be careful with a lot of the production line lately. Of course, such weak spots like: corners, bottom, around zipper have a chance to wear faster. Some members mentioned - that It depends of how you use a bag and how much you ready to baby it - that’s true. Some models allow you not to go crazy and cover it with your own body every minute. But even Pochettes fading on the bottom and edges if you use it often and carelessly dropping around. Abrasive surroundings is very likely to damage your corners, like plaster walls. From my experience of owning canvas, which is not that long yet, I can tell that older bags tend to be more durable, but it depends. I’m also very careful with my stuff and try to avoid a lot of problematic spots, like placing on the floor, allowing it to slide from my side when I’m lowering down etc. Bag rotation is also a great help to keep your stuff in a good shape and avoid permanent tension of the canvas and your clothing. But eventually it all coming to the way of how you treat your bags. You do not need to baby them, canvas was designed to be durable, but just have a common sense of potential dangers for material, like weak spots of the model, no alcohol, no abrasive scratching etc.

Some observations of mine/friend use of the bags: Neverfull leather is faster wearing out than canvas, on the corners of the top edge, at least. I have a folding wallet and I used it very careless at some point and it is immaculate. But it is from 2014. Bags with piping are also tend to have wear on the corners, so you need to be careful. I also noted, that I use my leather multi pochette more carelessly, than my canvas pieces, because it’s leather, and can be repaired in future more easily. But people around me will tell that I baby my bags and that’s true.

Hope my not so long experience will help you out a bit. But, I want to tell, the main thing is to enjoy items you have. And if you love the design, or pattern, or brand - keep That in mind up front, because without joy of using - there is no sense to take care of your pieces.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you very much for such a detailed response. I understand and agree. I look after my bags but still enjoy them. I have canvas from nearly 18 years ago and that is thick n so carefree. I am edging to keeping the bag. I know I will look after it and like you say it will bring bag joy

I have the Tuileries Besace with folded corners from 2018. I have had no problems and am not the most careful with my bags. Honestly the leather has more wear than the canvas. I have had my eyes on the carryall mm and would not hesitate to purchase. I am a monogram lover at heart.
Thank you. That is reassuring

I just purchased a pre-loved Artsy with the folded corners, made in spain from 2014. Corners have no wear. I will let you know how it goes when I use it but who ever had it before me, used it with no folded corner problems.
