can you lose marketplace access?

i was given permission to access the marketplace a while back, but i hadn't bought or sold anything yet through it...
there was a bag i had bookmarked and was going to pm the seller about it today, but the marketplace section was marked private again...

is it a glitch or do you lose access if you don't make a transaction in a certain period of time?

i can't remember when i got access...it's been at least 6 months...maybe longer...
i did post a few WTBs, but no WTS, at least not yet...
