Can this scratch be fixed?

Will rubbing in some leather conditioner help? I've owned several foulonne bags over the years and they are super hardy. It is quite hard to get scratches on them even with travelling and placing them anywhere and everywhere. I'm wondering if some leather conditioner might make the scratch look less obvious?

I will try that. I just wanted some opinions to see if it is worth keeping or not..

Foulonne leather is worth keeping but I do understand your concern too if you mind the scratch. There is a difference when we receive a bag with a scratch vs making that scratch ourselves. Looking at your pic, I am wildly guessing that this is the saddle bag, with a round-ish bottom? If it indeed is this discontinued style, I used to have it in navy and really enjoyed it. The size is very generous and it is a tad big for my needs but all said, it is a wondeful bag.

Yes, it has the roundish bottom but it is still on the Longchamp website. The size is similar to my Chanel Jumbo. I was looking for another bag to use everyday and let my high end bags take a break. I had brought it today, with that scratch but not sure if I should keep it or just pay the difference of $100 for a new one at the outlet.. What do you think?

Oh, then this is a current model. I prefer this current model in terms of size to my previous size that was discontinued. If the scratch bothers you and if this is a style that serves your needs and will remain in your collection, then I will say get a new one. As this style is still selling at the boutique, just to share that Longchamp does not send classic colours to the outlet. Only when the style is being discontinued, then classic colours are sent to the outlet.

The tag shows that this one is from last season however, the Longchamp outlet has the same exact one in the same color. I am going to visit the store this weekend if the weather holds up and make my decision. The associate sent me the picture of the exact bag and the color, so they do have it in the same color. I am not sure why they got it but they only have a few the associate stated. I put conditioner cream on the scratch but it is much less visible to anyone looking at the bag(see below picture), they would NOT notice but I DO! lol I am on the fence now. lol I know if it was a scratch that I made myself, I would not care too much.. This would be my first long champ bag. I have high end designer bags but not this color that I LOVE!!

sorry I still don't see it...it must be very faint after condition. but it's on the front so if it bothers you, doesn't matter what I think
it is very faint. I don't think anyone would notice but for some reason, I see it only when I look really hard. I have to decide if it is worth getting a new one or keeping this. I guess it is really my decision. You are right, you cannot see it. lol

well, for me, if you have to look really hard to find it and it cost $100 less than the alternative (?), I'd keep it.

I can fully reasonate with you. While others might not see the scratch, you know it is there and it sounds to me that it bothers you. I think at the end of the day, if you can get a new piece and be very happy with it versus keeping this piece and not 100% happy as you know it is less than perfect... the final decision lies in how happy you wish to be with this bag.

For what it is worth, I have had very positive and helpful experience with all LC boutiques, regardless of country. Since you are going into the boutique, bring along this bag and see if the SA can help you buff it out? Maybe they have some cream or technique that helps. It's worth trying and maybe when you place a brand new bag and side by side with this piece, you can decide better?

Keep us posted.

@happy_hippo Sorry for the late input. This scratch can be fixed.

I can see in your first photo that the top coat of the leather has been scratched off in certain places, so the results from buffing and leather conditioner won't be permanent. You'll have to recolour the leather, but finding an exact match for the colour and finish without a professional is difficult. Some products that I've used in the past with good results are Saphir Juvacuir (the one that I prefer, easiest application), Saphir Creme Renovatrice (also great), and Tarrago Self Shine Colour Dye (watery and a pain to work with, but loads of colours). Less is more when using any of these products ;)

I agree with Frenzied, though, you should take it to Longchamp and see if they have any suggestions - especially if you're not a DIY person. They're generally quite helpful and repairs aren't too expensive. Sometimes they're even free.
