You must want what is most popular and are taking a count?? Or do you already know what you like? I could never let anyone pick a bag for me, and there is no way I could have just one! lol! . IF that was the case, i would have to pick one that goes with every color and outfit I wear. Something nuetral that goes with anything. It all depends what you like? Do you like totes or satchels? Cross body or Hand carry? All depends what YOU need and like. Good Luck!
The Jet St top zip tote in the soft leather. It's considered an outlet version now, but I fell I love with them when they were available in the normal stores.
At the moment i am the oddball here and only do have one MK purse, a jet set crossbody in Peanut, i was after a lightweight hands free option that fit my full sized wallet so i found that with this style.
That said, whether it'll remain my only MK? probably not. It really does depend on what your needs and wants are.

Exactly.....owning 1 bag kinda makes my hands sweat. I received my 1st bag in the 6th grade, a leather liz claiborne crossbody. My mom started this handbag madness with me as her puppet quite early on

If I had to pick just one out of my current MK collection, it would have to be my large luggage Selma. It truly is an every day, year round color that goes with everything. The bag has a top zip and is the exact right size for me. It also has a removable, adjustable shoulder strap. 
Oh my.. I had the same question for you because I was deciding between Black Selma vs Black Colette, and I wanted a Peanut Selma, a Mandarin Selma, a black Miranda and now a Blush Ava. I don't have the space but I think it's almost impossible to have 1 bag only so I will try to keep my collection minimal to basic colors to have - 1 black (or 2

My mom started this handbag obsession for me too! I grew up hanging out with her in her closet with some (now vintage) Celines, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Gucci, etc. Used to go with her to the boutiques, and it was so much fun helping her pick out diff options. We still do it today. I introduced her to other brands, helped her pick her first Chanel and now she has other brands like Rebecca Minkoff and Kate Spade!
If I were to pick one MK that would be so difficult. I would need more information, like would it be the one bag I would use for the rest of my life? Where would I be living, would I be working full-time, and what kind of environment would I be at every day..is this even for the future when I will have children? Lol. Too many diff scenarios.
Right now at this moment I would have to go with my dark dune selma
