Hadn't been in the Coach store for awhile, finally got to go yesterday. Not a lot caught my eye (love the Nomad, but it doesn't suit me), but I did see a few things I'm considering.

Turnlock tote - wouldn't be an everyday bag for me, but I think it'd be nice for travel (or is it too nice for travel?). Like that it has a top zipper and an exterior pocket. Any opinions on this?

Any suggestions on wristlets or small bags to use inside that I can use for essentials if I don't want to tote the whole bag? How important is it to you that the inside bag coordinate with the outside bag? I didn't think I needed to coordinate, but am wanting to, lol.

I like the surplus color but would you consider that a year-round color? Otherwise I'm looking at navy as my first choice (I wear jeans all the time and don't have a navy bag), or black, but I have a black tatum tote (wouldn't want to travel with it though).

Scout Hobo - I'm a Phoebe/Edie girl. Prefer longer double straps and compartments. Although I do have two of those whipstitch tatum totes that I love too. But whenever I see the Scout I am drawn to it. I would most likely take off the longer strap and put the single strap over my shoulder. Anyone have this bag? Like it?

Cosmetic Case 17 in metallic cherry - looks like a good size for daily essentials. Loving the metallic cherry, but how do the metallics hold up?

I'm really wanting something in the metallic cherry or caviar. Pretty but not garish, imo.

Sorry for all the questions. I started to get overwhelmed then left so I could think about everything.

The turnlock is a great option for travel! The crossgrain can be beaten up a little moreso than other leathers and easy to keep clean, so I would definitely consider it. In regards to color, I say get what you love, Surplus is not a common Coach color, so if you love it, get it.

In regards to what to use inside of it, I would suggest the Double Zip wallet, it has room for a phone, lots of card space and could double as a clutch. A complimenting color would look nice with the Surplus, even the Metallic Black Cherry!

Scout is a nice, slouchy hobo, if you are not a fan of the Nomad, you may prefer the Scout. It is one compartment though, not like the Edie bags,

And the metallic cosmetic case is really pretty, I saw it yesterday.....and goes well with the Double Zip wallet I mentioned above! :graucho:

Thank you so much for your input! I like that the crossgrain would be more durable for travel. I was leaning towards the navy, but now I'm envisioning the surplus with double zip wallet you suggested and the cosmetic case. I think the metallic cherry would look nice with the surplus.

If I get all that, I'll hold off on the Scout, although I think I'll get one eventually. While I have always loved compartments, I've gotten used to my tatum totes, so I think I could make the Scout work.

Thank you again. I really appreciate it! :D

Some people like to match accessories to their bags, others don't. It's really a personal preference. I personally like to look inside my bag and find different colors and textures, so I never match anything.

As for "too nice for traveling"? Never! But what you like and what will work for you, and only you. :)

I just ordered that turnlock tote in black cherry because totes are my go-to bag if I'm not carrying an Edie. That surplus color is a good neutral, IMO. I have the whiplash Edie in that shade and like it a lot. I don't have a Scout but like the colors and outside zip pockets.

You're welcome!

I actually just purchased Scout Hobo and absolutely love it.
I've been eyeing it for months, I kept checking out the new styles and somehow always ended up trying on Scout.
It's very comfortable on shoulder, perfect opening for me, size is great medium, not heavy. The best part is the outside zippered pockets for keys and phone.
The leather was stiff in the beginning but I conditioned it and after 2 days only it's already softening.

I cannot help on those bag styles but the surplus color is totally year round imo. It's such a nice color, perhaps one day i will be able to get something it in.

As for insides? as said depends mine do not necessarily match the bag.. i keep two wristlets that i switch out to each bag, one is black LTD Peanuts woodstock & the second the Apricot L-zip embossed. These give me the option of two sizes for overall downsizing with any bag.

Thanks for the advice! I'm not super matchy, but don't like to clash either. I don't want to have to have a lot of accessories just so things match, so I like the idea of having different colors and textures. I gotta think outside the box!

Good to hear you find it comfortable and a good size. I like the idea of those outside zippered pockets. What color did you get?

Thank you both for your input! I think I am now convinced to get the surplus. I always liked it, just needed a push. Wanted something different that I wouldn't get tired of that was still pretty neutral and year-round. Sounds like I need to get a wristlet or two (of varying sizes) for inside. :graucho:

Actually, those all look pretty together. Fun colors! I assume that top bag isn't available anymore? I'm assuming it's a cosmetic bag? If so, that's the style I like. Am wondering how the new cosmetic bag style will hold my stuff because the zipper isn't just on the top, goes down the side too.

I think it's a great different color without being to out there or trendy. Of coarse you need a wristlet(or two lol) is there actually any doubt with this, ever?:p
