I am not sure if this is the right place for this so please let me know if it is not!

I am ordering a birkin next month and am teetering between chevre and epsom.

I like the look of both but I am wondering which is the best leather that is not too heavy but is durable and does not look "gross" over time! I realize this is vague but I just need some help please. I sold my 30cm black b and am having separation anxiety!! I need to decide soon! LOL

Thanks so much for any help and opinions you can provide!! :smile1:

epsom does not have much fanfare where as chevre may be one of the most desirable leathers. corner wear with epsom leather is more evident and the embossed nature of the leather makes the refurbishment capability not as great as natural grained leathers, such as chevre. the only disadvantage i can find for chevre is that it is more expensive and harder to find larger than a b30.

epsom may hold its structure better but chevre will have that beautiful slouch.

agree with that EVERLONG, chevre is better than epsom. im not too happy with my epsom..

Great information ladies!!! It is greatly appreciated!! I have only owned a 32cm kelly in chevre but loved the color of the leather with chevre!

I have tendinitis and am curious if the chevre leather is much heavier than the epsom as I hear epsom is lighter.

Any thoughts???

Not a problem. I have never had epsom, but my chevre bags are much lighter than the ones I've had in togo or clemence, as a rule. There are people who say they wear poorly, especially on the corners, but I haven't found that to be the case, really. Wear is about what I have experienced with other leathers.

Interesting! I don't use my birkins every day so I think that helps but I find the lighter the better. :smile1:
