Calling all halo/micropave experts, I'm have my 2 ct round diamond set in a micropave/halo setting. I asked for prongs to hold the diamond because I did not want any of the diamond's edge to be covered up in a bezel setting. I want the stone to be slightly raised by the prongs above the halo. The jeweler I'm working with said that there will slight gap between the diamond's edge and the halo. He said the gap will not be visible when looking straight down at the ring or even from the side/profile shot. He said a small gap will be visible if you look at the diamond's edge from a 45 degree angle on the side.

Is this true? Is is possible to have a halo/micropave setting with prongs without any gap for a 2 ct stone?

Thanks for your help! :flowers:

im definatly no expert...but i can show you what i have....

i have a halo setting...my stone (yellow sapphire) is raised a little bit...there is a slight gap but you cant see it looking down at the top of the ring...mine is about 1.56 ...from the side view you can see that the stone is raised slightly...but looking down you cant tell

i hope you can see it in the photos...these are the greatest photos unfortunally...i can take more tonight if you want to see more...hope this helps!

PRETTY!! i prefer my stone to be raised like that. Looks more elegant that way. Their will be a small gap because the halo can not line up exactly to the prongs.. just think small gap= more circumference :yahoo:

Thank you ladies for the advice!! Courtneyh, you are sooo sweet for posting pics!! YOUR RING IS GORGEOUS!!! I love the detail! And that is a killer red nail polish color! I love it!

mine has a gap you can see at an angle due to it being raised on prongs (not like a bezel set, but you can't see it from the top at all. Mine is a 1.7 round.

thanks so much!!!

i like that the stone sits a little higher...its elegant! and like everyone else said you cant see it looking down at the ring but i love how you can see the slight height looking at it from the side!
