Happy Sunday my lovely tpfers!
I have a question for Cannes owners out there. How are you finding the bag? Any pros and cons? I’m thinking abt treating myself to a new bag. I feel that the Cannes is a super cute bag and very unique. It seems like it is a statement piece which is really funky and will be fun to use. I have the speedy, neverfull, PSM backpack and don’t have anything in a unique shape in my collection.
I’m after a crossbody bag to use, that is not too big or too small. Can fit a bit more than the essentials.
My only concern is the round shape and that it might not sit nicely on the body when worn crossbody and also the wear and tear from opening the top up all the time. Hoping someone with this bag could let me know. Also is the zipper annoying with the way it opens up?
Any comments/feedback would be much appreciated whether you have it or not. What do you love and hate most abt the bag? Do you think it can be used for years to come?
Or should I get the duffle instead or another bag altogether?
TIA for all your help

I will be carrying my Cannes for the first time today! I have to run to LV because the keys are not the right number for the lock. It fits everything that I fit into my Pochette Metis!

I bought the Mono Reverse Cannes after thinking it was the cutest bag ever. Even though I have other bags, my day to day is a crossbody. I have the PSM and even several MCM mini backpacks, they suit me because I'm only 5'1. To look at and carry by the handle, it is wonderful. However, no matter how I adjusted it, it rolled on me when worn crossbody. I also found it a bit bulky when worn that way. The zipper was somewhat annoying due to the round shape, but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I debated and debated and finally returned it, though absolutely adorable and well made, I just couldn't justify keeping it. I don't want to discourage you, but that was my experience.

That’s great to know. What colour do you have? What made you get it? Does it fill a purpose in your collection?
I have the monogram reverse Cannes. I bought it pre-loved, but it was never used, came with the full set. I got it because it was hard to find and I just loved the shape and look and wanted something in the monogram reverse and the PM doesn't speak to me in that print.

I'm a crossbody gal and as @lvfringe said, it is bulky when worn crossbody and does roll when carried by the long strap.

I tend to choose my other bags over this one which is why today is my first time taking her out haha.

Capacity wise, it fits a lot! Everything I fit into my Coach Cassie or Pochette Metis, I can fit in this.

I've attached a pic of my complete collection, I don't see myself adding too much more. Maybe another capsule pocket organizer and I've been considering re-adding the round coin purse.

Initially, I had the same debate as you, cannes (giant) or mono duffle. I chose cannes because of the canvas bottom and feet whereas duffle is vachetta bottom and no feet. I also despise the s-lock. But now, here I am with my giant cannes wanting the duffle again lol

I have not seen the duffle in person, but based on youtube videos and ig photos, it looks to be the same size as cannes. Mono duffle looks like old time retro sophisticated to me, while giant cannes looks more feminine classy to me than the reverse cannes. Leather duffle reminds me of sailboats. I would like the leather option more if the strap and handle did not have blossoms. Reverse cannes looks more contemporary and would have the easiest maintenance. I think red vernis cannes is the most stunning though.

As for the actual cannes bag, it can fit a lot. The zipper closure does not bother me. However, it's important to note that I own several structured bags with zippers. They also are not always conventionally shaped bags. Basically, I'm used to opening bags that others may find cumbersome. Cannes can easily be held as a top handle and I can slide it to the crook of my arm with no problem. I like it as a top handle most.

Cannes does have a tendecy to stick out at an odd angle when it's filled up and weighed down. It can feel bulky and knock into things, but my giant cannes has an adjustable strap. I have more control where it hits on my body. Epi and mono reverse cannes are the only ones without an adjustable strap. I also want to mention that one time, the clasp managed to get lose somehow so my bag slipped off my shoulder. Thank god I was in a store with carpeted floors.

All in all, I don't have a lot of pros and cons about this bag, and normally, I can come up with a lot. I bought the giant cannes because when I saw the campaign photos for summer 2019, I was head over heels for it. I literally stopped, gasped, and went, "oooooo!" I've only used the bag twice in the two months I've had it. It's summer right now and summer is usually full of scattered thunderstorms. I don't want to ruin the vachetta. I love and enjoy structured bags. I do not own a tote bag or any conventional satchel. Cannes is a shape I didn't have before.

The reason why I want the duffle bag (again) is because of its design. I think duffle and cannes offer two completely things. Duffle is more dynamic and cannes is static with subtle accents that elevate it. I consider duffle more of a statement piece. Both are classic to me but cannes is understated classic and duffle leans on punchy classic. Both bags are based on vintage designs.

I do not regret purchasing my cannes, and I don't plan on getting rid of it within the next two years. If I were you, I'd ask myself if I want a bag that's easy to maintain (reverse cannes). If you have never tried the s-lock, go to the boutique and check it out. I find it annoyingly hard to close. I would also consider what your overall style is. If you want something unique and subtle, cannes. If you want something more eye catching, duffle.

Thanks for the honestly! You hit the nail on the head with my concerns about the rolling around of it on my body. Guess I will have to try it in person. Hoping to get to the boutique on the weekend

It’s a gorgeous bag! Thanks for sharing your pics! Love it. Can I ask if you have some kind of bag liner in there? The grey thing? How does that work?

Wasn’t able to reply to your message so hopefully this works. Thanks so much for your honest opinion. It’s great to know it’s a wonderful bag and you’re enjoying it. Yes one of my biggest concerns is the rolling of the bag and also the folding of the leather when you open the lid of that makes sense.

The thing that gravitates me to it is the feet, reverse mono, top handle and crossbody, microfibre lining, easy to maintain and fits lots. And most importantly it is a unique style of bag and I don’t have anything like this in my collection. I like the fact not everything will have it like the speedy or neverfull.

I thought the strap for all of them was adjustable? I’m interested in the reverse so there’s no vanchetta and it’s easy to care for. Thanks for your comments. Will need to try it out myself and see how it feels!

You're welcome! Yes, it's a Samorga in light grey! I ordered it off their website on June 2nd and it arrived June 27th! It just slides right in and protects the interior of your bag.

On the lv site, the adjustable straps are featured with the product photos and it says on the description the straps are adjustable. Epi and reverse mono dont have adjustable straps in the photo and it's not mentioned either. I could be wrong though.

I didn't really care for the reverse mono when I was trying it out. I only was looking at it for a size reference before biting the bullet and putting a payment towards the giant cannes so my sa could order it for me. I do remember being surprised that the giant cannes was adjustable when I received my order in-store though. Maybe the newer ones aren't adjustable, or they just forgot to label them as adjustable on the website?

I'm not sure if this may help you with your decision or not, but I went to my boutique yesterday and they told me the duffle is now a permanent bag.

May I ask why you are hesitating with the purchase? Just wondering because when I first saw the giant cannes in the campaign, I was in love. When I saw it in person, I wasn't as excited as I thought I would be. I still brought the bag home. When I was at the boutique yesterday, I had my cannes with me and found myself admiring it more than the bags I was actually interested in lol

Thanks daisy! I’m concerns are the fact that it might move and roll too much when worn, the zipper opening and if it will be awkward, the leather wrinkling too much when opening and if it will cause any issues and then the style if it can be worn for years to come. Lol not many concerns aye??! I guess I have to visit the boutique to see how it looks and feels on me. But from the Instagram pics on everyone it looks gorgeous and amazing! On everyone it looks fab causally and dressed up hence I keep thinking abt it.
